October 31, 2013 USA Today and LA Times notes there have been 4 Mass Murders In 4 Days. On Saturday, Mindon Chen butchered an entire family in Brooklyn and Michael Dante Guzzo mass murdered the family next door over complaints over dog barks. Monday the 28th, Charles Brownlow killed his mother, aunt and 3 others and set houses on fire across 5 crimes scenes starting in Terrell, Texas near Dallas. The next day in South Carolina, Bryan Sweatt took 4 adults and 2 children in a home hostage, bound them with duct tape and shot them execution style. This is the first time, but one expert opined it's too early to say whether the total number of cases is higher than what we would see on average. These do not include the string of school violence incidents the previous week in Sparks Nevada where one teacher was shot at school, another in Danvers was stabbed after school, a student in Vancouver was told by voices to shoot a bully, and another in Chico fire off a motorcycle-mounted AR-15 rifle at school.

- Vancouver boy 11 bring handgun, knives and ammo to school October 23, 2013 Vancouver, Washington An 11-year-old boy is arrested for investigation of attempted murder after bringing a gun, knives and more than 400 rounds of ammunition to his Vancouver middle school, and he has been expelled. The parents called after they noticed knives were missing. Frontier Middle School notified police that ammo had been discovered at the school. There were no previous indications of problems with the student.

Police searched the school and found blood in a second-floor bathroom, and Colleen Ritzer’s body was found in the woods behind the school. The boy was was found by Topsfield police at 12:30 a.m. walking along Route 1. Chism's family had moved to Massachusetts from Tennessee the past summer, and has a 7-year-old girl. One neighbor called Chism "like a nice quiet boy."

- Student Shoots Teacher, self in Nevada middle school shooting October 21, 2013 2 are dead, 2 injured in shooting at Sparks Middle School in northern Nevada outside Reno. Several were shot as classes were starting around 7:16 am. Two young boys are currently in critical condition. A 13 year old said a teacher get shot when he confronted what appeared to be a boy walk into the Sparks Middle School, armed with a gun, then he shot himself.
