February 2, 2018  Shanghai Burning Van With Gas Canisters Crash Into Pedestrians Not Attack A van carrying six people and several tanks of explosive gas caught fire as it swerved and crashed into the sidewalk next to a Starbucks near a popular park. The crash coincides with British PM Theresa May's visit to Shanghai. Fire was caused by driver smoking cigarette inside vehicle.   Daily Star headline asked if  the van crash was terror attack?  amed only as Chen by police, was smoking behind the wheel while transporting hazardous gas canisters “illegally”The man, a mental worker who has no criminal record, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and illegal transport of dangerous substances, local media reported. Police have ruled out terrorism and believe it was an accident. Several pedestrians rushed to break the car window to pull out the apparently unconsciously driver  Alternative theory - it looks like a clandestine attack. The driver did not give any political motive but did not explain why he illegally packed with van with exposive gas canisters, set them afire by illegal smoking, then illegally swerved into the sidewalk and ran over 18 people.

February 2, 2018 Shanghai Gas Canister Van Plows Into Crowd Not Terrorist minivan carrying inflammable gas canisters plowed into pedestrians in downtown Shanghai, China leaving at least 3 in critical condition. Indications is that it was just an accident, near a prominent park and Starbucks happened at a busy intersection, government immediately ruled out terrorism vehicle driven terrorist attacks have killed scores globally in recent years. Daily Star (UK) called it the Shanghai van attack as the van was moving fast as it veered across the road. He said: “The minivan did not slow down. The driver must have been in a panic at the time, he didn’t slow down and just directly crashed. While the statement did not suggest the crash was intentional, there have been cases in China of people seeking to settle personal scores who have carried out similar acts.
