Alexander William Weiss Shoots Iraqi Teen Muhammed Rahim After Fender Bender --- ===

January 14, 2018 Alexander William Weiss Shoots Iraqi Teen Muhammed Rahim After Fender Bender Alexander Weiss was driving to his Sunday morning job refereeing youth basketball in Rochester Minnesota when he saw a car slide through the intersection. When he got out to help, the Cavalier driven by Muhammad Rahim, 17 and passenger Noah Dukart backed up into his Subaru. The teens who thought Weiss was going to fight got out yelling, so Weiss went back to his car and brought out a gun and after Weiss claimed he was shoved, Rahim dared him to shoot and tried to grab his gun Weiss told police he shot Rahim.  3rd passenger Riley Bongiorno says he tried to put pressure on the gunshot wound   Officers found Rahim lying in the roadway with a single gunshot wound to the chest. He did not have pulse when taken to St. Mary's Hospital where Rahim was declared dead.  Olmsted County attorney charged Weiss, who says he acted in self-defense, with second-degree murder in the death of Muhammed Rahim, 17, the middle child of a family that fled Iraq six years ago. Rochester police indicated Rahim and another passenger in his car might have been impaired at the time of the shooting. several witnesses told investigators that Rahim and other teenagers in his car had used drugs that day Friends think Rahim had good character and would not be a threat to anybody.

Alternative theory:Expect national muslim activists to raise a black lives matter style human rights campaign. Unlikely but possible Iraqi muslim teen was looking for trouble and excuse to get shot by police or a citizen for martyrdom. Teen flunked normal high school and placed in alternative school, he pals say he was a great guy as usual. No public social media I can find. So far only local reporting.

Details:

8:30am Sunday Alexander Weiss was driving to his Sunday morning job refereeing youth basketball in Rochester Minnesota when he saw a car slide through the intersection. Muhammad Rahim 17 was driving tried to make a right turn through the intersection but instead slid into the curb and partway into a ditch. e intended to get out of his car to check on the Cavalier's occupants, according to the criminal complaint. Before he could do so, however, the Cavalier reversed and hit Weiss' car.

Chevrolet Cavalier Rahim was driving in with three passengers near 31st Street Northeast and East River Road had a minor accident, which caused Weiss, traveling westbound on 31st, to pull alongside of the Cavalier, the complaint states.   The Chevy then backed into the red Subaru kstp

The teens said Weiss got out of his car "as if he wished to fight." The passenger said he and Rahim yelled at Weiss and threatened to fight him. Two teens got out of the car. Weiss got out of his car "as if he wished to fight." The passenger said he and Rahim yelled at Weiss and threatened to fight him.

Weiss said a male passenger exited Rahim's car and started to yell profanities at him, the complaint said. male passenger got out of the vehicle and became aggressive. At that point, Weiss told police he returned to his Subaru and retrieved his phone and a handgun  Weiss said he would call the police. At that point, he said, the passenger in Rahim's car said he would beat up Weiss and started to walk toward him. Weiss told the passenger to stop so that they could get the situation sorted out. The passenger stopped.

Weiss said he feared for his safety and returned to his Subaru to get his phone and firearm, a Glock 19 with a 17-round magazine he kept in the glove compartment. He put the gun in his pants pocket and told the passenger that he was armed and "should not do anything stupid."

passenger said  Weiss got out of his car after the crash “as if he wished to fight.”
The passenger also said that Rahim got very close to Weiss, “puffing out his chest” before Weiss pulled a gun. According to the passenger, Rahim told Weiss, “I ******* dare you to do it” once the gun was pulled The passenger claims that neither he nor Rahim touched Weiss before the shooting.

and after Weiss got a gun out of his car, Muhammad Rahim shoved Weiss once, dared him to shoot, and tried to grab the gun (like Michael Brown unarmed black youth shot by police) witness said Weiss pulled his handgun and pointed it at Rahim, who told Weiss, "I f***ing dare you to do it,"

Weiss has a legal permit to carry a gun, shot the teenage driver of the other car at point-blank range when he felt threatened in self defense. Rahim then got out of his car and started to yell at Weiss, saying he caused the collision and that Rahim and his passenger were going to beat up Weiss.

Weiss told police that Rahim was a few inches from his face before shoving him in the chest. Weiss said he then pulled the gun out of his pocket and pointed it at the ground to show Rahim that he was armed. He also told Rahim that he would detain him, if he had to, until police arrived.

Weiss said Rahim responded, "That's not even a real gun," and spat at Weiss. Weiss said Rahim then reached for the gun, so he backed up and told Rahim to stop. Weiss then cocked the gun by pulling back the slide and shot Rahim at "point-blank" range. Weiss called police after the shooting.  Weiss told police in the moments just before the shooting that Rahim “got in his face” and spit on him before the victim “grabbed at Weiss' gun.”

A contradicting passing witness said the victim was not touching the gunman, raising a fist at him or advancing toward him when he was shot, according to the complaint.

Olmsted County attorney charged Weiss, who says he acted in self-defense, with second-degree murder in the death of Muhammed Rahim, 17, the middle child of a family that fled Iraq six years ago. Weiss is white, volunteers at his church, the YMCA and elsewhere, McGeeney said, and has attended both Rochester Community and the University of Minnesota in Rochester. startrib

Minnesota law defines the "justifiable taking of life" in situations in which the actor reasonably fears "great bodily harm or death," or acts to stop a felony in his or her home. Sherwin said Tuesday that Weiss was not physically injured in the confrontation, nor were punches thrown. postbull
