December 19, 2015 1 injured 2 suspects charged  Man, Woman Charged With Beating Blind Off-Duty Salvation Army Bell Ringer With Kettle in NY  30-year-old Juan Rodriguez and 21-year-old Audrianna Wignal are charged with beating and kicking a legally blind Salvation Army bell ringer while standing in line on break at a Greenburgh NY Smashburger restaurant.  Rodriguez allegedly accused the victim of cutting line, then punched him, knocked him to the ground, straddled him and continued to pummel the man while Wignal kicked him. Police allege that Rodriguez then threw the Salvation Army Kettle at the man, hitting him in the head. The victim suffered a broken orbital bone and a broken nose. The two suspects are being held on $25,000 bond after being charged with assault. Neither has entered a plea.

Greenburgh is a town in the western part of Westchester County, New York

December 19, 2015 Police: Man, Woman Assault Blind Salvation Army Bell Ringer Breaks Bone, Nose For Cutting Line At White Plains NY Restaurant CBS Local‎  Two people have been arrested after police said they assaulted a Salvation Army bell ringer .happened at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Smashburger on Tarrytown Road.  Police said the 41-year-old bell ringer, who is legally blind, was on his break and standing in line with 30-year-old Juan Rodriguez and 21-year-old Audrianna Wignal when Rodriguez accused the victim of cutting the line. ..Rodriguez punched the victim, knocking him to the ground...continued to hit him in the head while Wignal kicked him,.. suffered.. broken orbital bone and a broken nose,.. GREENBURGH - Five days before Christmas, a blind Salvation Army bell ringer on an afternoon break inside a Smashburger restaurant was punched, kicked and had his own donation kettle thrown at him by a pair with a criminal past, police said.

Despite a broken nose and smashed orbital bone, 41-year-old Jermaine Simmons, of Yonkers, who said he's legally blind in both eyes and has cerebral palsy, was back soliciting donations for the charity Tuesday in front of the Stop&Shop supermarket in White Plains.
