Austrian police have arrested the man

A 21-year-old Turkish man has been arrested following the incident in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

During his arrest, the Turk was shouting “Please, Allah, help me, please, Allahu Akbar”, according to police spokesman Thomas Keiblinger.

The officer added: "He drove straight at the pedestrians. It was very tough for them, they only managed to narrowly escape by quickly jumping aside."

A Koran was found in the vehicle used by the Turk in his failed attack, which he allegedly borrowed from his dad.

The van with the two dead women inside was discovered hours after Elner was hospitalized, prosecutors said. Lyons police, who were at the scene when Elner was found, pieced together the possibility that she was connected to the crash.
