Israel and U.S. Set Eyes on Lebanon as Iran-Saudi Proxy Clash Heats Up. American financier had criticized liberal lobby group's rival AIPAC for being too hawkish.
Washington Times reported Friday. The American financier has in the past criticized J Street's rival AIPAC for being too hawkish.
The daily reported that it had obtained tax reports by Soros and two of his children, Jonathan and Andrea, who had donated some $245,000 to the organization between July 2008 and June 2009.

A spokesman for Soros did not deny the contributions and said Soros had never concealed his support for the group. J Street told the Washington Times that the Soros family has contributed to the organization $750,000 over the past three years.

ontributions represent a third of the group's revenue from U.S. sources during the period," the Washington Times said. The paper also reported that a Hong Kong donor had provided as much as 50 percent of the organization's revenue in the same period.

He voiced support for J Street as early as 2008, when the organization was set up.

J Street was formed by center-left American Jews aiming to counterbalance pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC, seen by critics as hawkish and right-wing.

The organization describes itself as a "pro-Israel, pro-peace" lobby pushing for more ...J Street political action committee has received tens of thousands of dollars in donations from dozens of Arab and Muslim Americans, as well as from several individuals connected to organizations doing Palestinian and Iranian issues advocacy, according to Federal Election Commission filings. Additionally, at least two State Department officials connected to Middle East issues have donated to the PAC, which gives money to candidates for US Congress supported by J Street. The organization describes itself as a "pro-Israel, pro-peace" lobby pushing for more American involvement and diplomacy in resolving the Middle East conflict. Arab and Muslim donors are extremely rare for other organizations that describe themselves as supporters of Israel as J Street does, Jewish leaders at organizations across the political spectrum told The Jerusalem Post. Because most of these other organizations are not PACs, however, US law does not require them to release their donor lists. J Street's non-PAC arm also does not release a complete list of contributors. J Street executive director Jeremy Ben-Ami estimated the amount of Arab and Muslim donors to be a very small percentage - at most 3 percent - of the organization's thousands of contributors. But he said that such supporters show the broad appeal of J Street's message and its commitment to coexistence.

finance committee's 50 members - with a $10,000 contribution threshold - include Lebanese-American businessman Richard Abdoo, a current board member of Amideast and a former board member of the Arab American Institute, and Genevieve Lynch, who is also a member of the National Iranian American Council board. The group has also received several contributions from Nancy Dutton, an attorney who once represented the Saudi Embassy in Washington. Smaller donors include several leaders of Muslim student groups, Saudi- and Iranian-born Americans, and Palestinian- and Arab-American businessmen who also give to Arab-oriented PACs. Additionally, Nicole Shampaine, director of the State Department's Office for Egypt and the Levant, gave $1,000 last summer. Lewis Elbinger, who used to serve in Saudi Arabia, gave a combined $150. A State Department legal adviser said there were no laws or codes prohibiting employees from donating to groups doing advocacy work on the policies they are formulating. "The State Department ethics rules don't prohibit contributions to lobbying groups," she said. Shampaine did not respond to a request for comment from the Post and Elbinger could not be reached. The donations raised the eyebrows of some Jewish organization officials. "It informs our view of where these individual foreign service officers' heads are in relation to US-Israel policy," said one who spoke on condition of anonymity. "It might not be the smartest move for them to be showing their hand in that way, though I don't think it's illegal or even unethical." Though Abdoo, Lynch and Dutton also did not respond to queries from the Post, donor Zahi Khouri was reached by telephone during a visit to the West Bank, where he splits his time along with Orlando. He explained that he donated to the J Street PAC because "I believe that they are sincere about being pro-Israel and they are sincere about being pro-peace. And AIPAC I consider an enemy of Israel rather than a friend of Israel because they're not helping it to achieve peace."

‘Jewish Voice for Peace’ Category
http://fresnozionism.org/category/jewish-voice-for-peace/Is Soros pumping up JVP?Thursday, March 7th, 2013
I’ve written ad nauseum that the most energetic and effective anti-Zionists are Jews, not Arabs or Muslims. A perfect example is the group called “A Jewish Voice for Peace” (JVP), based in the San Francisco Bay Area, but with chapters all over the country, mostly on college campuses.
Someone is pumping JVP up, and I think we can get a clue about who from the partnership with Avaaz. Avaaz is not (yet) big in the US, so you may not have heard of it. But let me quote from NGO Monitor’s analysis:
Avaaz was co-founded in 2007 by “Res Publica, a global civic advocacy group, and Moveon.org.” The former received grants totaling $290,000 from the Soros Open Society Institute in 2008. The latter received a $1.46 million grant from George Soros in 2004. Res Publica describes Avaaz.org as its “primary current project.”
According to a 2007 ABC News report on Avaaz.org’s call for the firing of Paul Wolfowitz as president of the World Bank, Avaaz.org is a “global advocacy group funded by philanthropist and financier George Soros, MoveOn.org and the labor group SEIU.”
According to the 2009 Form 990 (page 87) filed by the Open Society Foundations, OSF gave $600,000 to Avaaz.org via New York-based Res Publica; $300,000 for “general support to Avaaz.org” and $300,000 for “Avaaz.org’s work on climate change.”
Soros also funds J Street, the phony “pro-Israel” lobby, although J Street’s director, Jeremy Ben Ami lied in an attempt to keep it secret.
My guess is that Soros is getting behind JVP as well, and with the same objective: to create a ‘popular’ Jewish anti-Zionist movement. (he's right  Money Trail shows Tides Foundation is behind JVP)   Soros, in other words, is pitching a whole line of anti-Israel merchandise to Jews. Are you a progressive who wants to distance himself from Israel along with your left-wing friends, while still remaining a member of your (liberal) synagogue? Buy some J Street! But suppose you want to see Israel replaced by an Arab state and don’t care who knows it — if you are suffering from stage-4 Oslo Syndrome — then JVP is for you.

Hack exposes billionaire Soros' support of anti-Israel agenda

Jewish billionaire George Soros' foundation found to have donated millions to Palestinian and Israeli organizations to delegitimize Israel through U.S. and EU advocacy • Leaked documents show foundation works to conceal its activities in the region.

Hacked documents reveal Jewish billionaire George Soros's donations to anti-Israel groups |  Photo: Reuters

Hackers leaked hundreds of confidential reports from Jewish billionaire George Soros' network of philanthropic organizations to the DC Leaks website over the weekend, revealing some troubling information. The reports detail the organization's activities in Israel and the Palestinian Authority and expose the scope of Soros' donations, as well as the network's efforts to conceal its activities.

According to the leaked data, Soros' Open Society Foundations focused on both U.S. and EU advocacy to exert pressure on, and delegitimize, Israel.

"For a variety of reasons, we wanted to construct a diversified portfolio of grants dealing with Israel and Palestine, funding both Israeli Jewish and PCI [Palestinian citizens of Israel] groups as well as building a portfolio of Palestinian grants and in all cases to maintain a low profile and relative distance -- particularly on the advocacy front," a foundation report noted.

Leaked documents show that since 2001, Soros transferred a total of $2,688,560 in 14 separate grants to Adalah, a self-described "independent human rights organization." The organization has accused Israel of war crimes on multiple occasions in international arenas.

Since 2003, he donated $1,083,000 in nine payments to the Nazareth-based I'lam Media Center. I'lam accused Israel of ethnic cleansing in 2014, and has claimed that the Nakba (catastrophe, as Palestinians refer to Israel's declaration of independence) "undermines the moral and ethical foundation of Zionism and, hence, of the State of Israel."

Like-minded organizations received donations comparable in size from Soros, sometimes through the New Israel Fund, another grantee of the billionaire and his Open Society Foundations.

According to a report in the Jewish online magazine Tablet, a leaked report from the Arab Regional Office, the Middle-Eastern branch of Soros' organizations, identified a shift in "political dynamics" in the U.S. following the publication of the Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer paper "The Israel Lobby" in 2006. The paper noted, among other things, the lobby's support for the now-unpopular U.S. invasion of Iraq.

The Arab Regional Office also noted increasing support for the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement around the world as one of the "improved opportunities we may choose to exploit."

The document leak is of particular concern to American conservatives as Soros is a long-time Democratic donor, who has given millions over the years to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Those on the right claim Soros used prior donations to the then-secretary of state to influence her decision-making.

Executive Summary

George Soros, the Soros family, and the Open Society Foundation network are among the world’s largest philanthropists, with major impact on a global scale. This monograph provides a detailed examination of these activities and their effect in the context of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Based on open-source data, including tax-reporting documents from the givers and recipients, this report also analyzes the role of a little-known and rather secretive branch of the Open Society Foundation – the Open Society Institute, based in Zug, Switzerland.

The background for this report is the intensive campaign of delegitimization and political warfare targeting Israel, led by influential nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), under the banner of human rights and similar moral objectives. Soros has been a frequent critic of Israeli government policy, and does not consider himself a Zionist, but there is no evidence that he or his family holds any special hostility or opposition to the existence of the state of Israel. This report will show that their support, and that of the Open Society Foundation, has nevertheless gone to organizations with such agendas.

Among the objectives of this report is to provide detailed and fully sourced information on these activities, and to inform Soros and others involved in his charitable activities about their impact. The evidence demonstrates that Open Society funding contributes significantly to anti-Israel campaigns in three important respects: 1. Active in the “Durban strategy;” 2. Funding aimed at weakening U.S.support for Israel by shifting public opinion regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Iran; 3. Funding for Israeli political opposition groups on the fringes of Israeli society, which use the rhetoric of human rights to advocate for marginal political goals.

The first category comprises large and extensive Open Society Foundation grants to Palestinian organizations such as Al-Haq, Al-Mezan, and Palestinian Center for Human Rights, as well as Israeli political NGOs, including Yesh Din, Breaking the Silence, and Adalah. These groups are active in promoting the Durban strategy by attempting to portray Israel as a “racist” and “apartheid state” that commits “war crimes.” A primary goal of such demonizing language is to isolate Israel internationally, leading to the implementation of sanctions. Many of these NGO recipients are also leaders in the international boycott, sanctions, and divestment (BDS) and “lawfare” campaigns, including the filing of international lawsuits aimed at harassing Israeli officials.

This report also examines contributions from Soros to international NGOs such as Human Rights Watch ($100 million) and Amnesty International, both of which focus disproportionate and biased attention on Israel. The Soros gift to Human Rights Watch came after a series of scandals, including fundraising in Saudi Arabia to promote its anti-Israel campaigns and support for the Ghaddafi family as “human rights reformers.” Concurrently, founder Robert Bernstein publicly renounced Human Rights Watch, and a number of core donors also withdrew their support.

In the second category are organizations that aim to shift U.S. public opinion regarding the IsraeliPalestinian conflict. The report examines the role of the Soros family in supporting U.S.-based organizations such as J Street, Media Matters, the Center for American Progress, the National Iranian American Council (NIAC), and the Institute for Middle East Understanding. These groups share the goal of influencing American public opinion and leaders on Middle East policy issues, and reducing domestic support for Israel. NIAC seeks to enhance the public standing of the Iranian regime and shield it from efforts to prevent the illicit acquisition of nuclear weapons.

In the third category is funding for Israeli political opposition groups on the fringes of Israeli society. This includes gifts to organizations such as Adalah, B’Tselem, Breaking the Silence, Gisha, and Yesh Din. These organizations promote a narrow, marginal political agenda that is far outside the Israeli consensus, often join in promoting the Durban agenda, and in some cases reject Israel’s existence as a Jewish state. Other grant recipients are large foundations, such as the New Israel Fund, which in turn support many of these same Israeli organizations.

In these funding policies, and in contrast to the name and stated values of the Open Society Foundation, the Soros family and the recipient organizations often act in a manner that is inconsistent with the principles of transparency and accountability. Support for Al-Haq, Adalah and other organizations is not fully transparent. The relationship of the Soros family and OSF leadership in New York to OSI-Zug is also opaque, but the involvement of senior Open Society Foundation officials Aryeh Neier and William Newton-Smith as OSI-Zug trustees suggests that the Swiss entity does not act independently. Similarly, the efforts to hide donations from the Soros family to J Street are far from consistent with the ideals of an “open society.”

The extent of Soros’ and the Soros family’s awareness of the issues raised in this monograph is a matter of speculation. Though smaller grants are authorized by OSF staff, the largescale OSF and Soros family grants to Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the Institute for Middle East Understanding, along with Center for American Progress and Media Matters, are almost certainly known by foundation leadership and the Soros family. In this sense, the grants represent their intentions and are expressions of their values.

It is unclear whether or not Soros and his family know of the Open Society Foundation’s role in supporting the global delegitimization of Israel. Soros recently said, “As I survey my foundations network, I cannot give a proper accounting of the far-reaching and varied activities going on inside because I am not aware of them all.”

Yet, to what degree Soros, his family, and the Open Society Foundation are aware of the cumulative impact on Israel and of the political warfare conducted by many of their beneficiaries is an open question. Recommendations: First, George Soros, the Soros family, and the Open Society Foundation network should institute complete transparency, in contrast to the secrecy outlined in this report. Second, they should ensure that beneficiaries act in strict accordance with the universal moral principles, and abstain from promoting totalitarian regimes such as in Iran, as well as from participating in demonization of Israel through the exploitation of the language of human rights.

Hungarian-born multi-billionaire George Soros has spun an immense web of left-wing organizations and groups intent on transforming the world. The list of the organizations he finances extends over two single-spaced pages. They are active in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Soros-supported organizations include Black Lives Matter, MoveOn.org, the Center for American Progress, America Coming Together, the pro-marijuana Drug Policy Alliance, Zimbabwe’s Movement for Democratic Change, the Georgian Open Society Foundation, various open border immigration organizations in Europe, and multiple groups calling for boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israel for its treatment of Palestinians.

His involvement in American politics reaches from top to bottom. He is Hillary Clinton’s largest campaign donor. He is now reaching down to the local level by supporting district attorney races in order to pursue his goal of decriminalizing drugs and dismantling the “incarceration state,” which disproportionately imprisons minorities. In total, he supports more than 500 organizations worldwide and has donated in the last two decades an estimated $11 billion to progressive causes and some charitable groups.

His net worth, estimated at $14 billion, allows him to act on his convictions. He is one of the richest people in the world. While the left obsesses about the Koch brothers’ involvement in politics and their funding of a few free-market centers in American universities and colleges, the democratic left should instead focus on the big money that the Soros network uses to distort and manipulate politics in America and around the world. His vision is of a world with no national borders, which is highly regulated by international organizations.

A Messiah Complex

Soros’s ideal world is libertarian concerning drug use, abortion and assisted suicide; yet, government is centralized to provide extensive social welfare programs and economic regulation. His is a secular world where religion, especially Christianity, plays no significant role in society
