Nashville Tennessee Church Mass Shooting by Sudanese immigrant

Nashville Tennessee Church Shooting by Sudanese immigrant  --- ===

September 24, 2017  Nashville Tennessee Church Mass Shooting by Sudanese immigrant Alleged church Shooter  Emanuel Kidega Samson is a Sudanese immigrant who was brought to America when he was only 4-5 years old.   Suspect was not recognized in his mask but later was identified as a former member of the church. urviving victims include Minister Joey Spann, who is in critical condition, and his wife, Peggy Spann, 65, who is in stable condition. The other victims are now all in stable condition: Linda Bush, 68; William Jenkins, 83; Marlene Jenkins, 84; Katherine Dickerson, 64; and Robert Engle, 22, the usher who stopped the gunman, police said. Samson Wearing a Ski Mask, Opened Fire as Church Was Letting Out, Police Say. Tennessee church suspect had a note citing retaliation for racist Dylan Roof's Emanuel AME black Church shooting  Police were called twice about disputes with his girlfriend who was not at the church, and Samson's father called police after he got a text with suicidal thought. He was armed like a commando with a mask, two semiautomatic pistols which were still loaded, and a tactical vest with extra magazines of ammunition.

He was some sort of black nationalist conspiracy theorist as review of Samson's Facebook page by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) found sympathies and interests to black supremacist figures and groups like the New Black Panther Party and the Nation of Islam, as well as an affinity for conspiracy theories.[9] In the days leading up to the shooting, he posted "several cryptic messages" on his Facebook page.[1]

A psychiatrist diagnosed Samson with "schizoaffective disorder bipolar type" and post-traumatic stress disorder after an abusive, violent upbringing.  He found Samson heard voices, hallucinated and had intense mood swings, with "delusional beliefs" about predicting the future and controlling people with his mind.  He determined Samson's mental disease drove his actions in the Nashville shooting at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ. but did nto know if it met insanity defense. [1]

Alternative theory: Was it clandestine attack by foreign nation state that promotes black nationalism and conspiracy theories and racial division? Was he sent by the same people who sent Dylann Roof who used an e-mail accout and  posted his manifesto on a Russian website?

Burnette Chapel Church Shooting: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

The scene at the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch, ..... according to abiography on a website for a church where he spoke in 2012.

shooter, identified by police as Emanuel Kidega Samson, 25, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. He was taken into custody and is at the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds, police said. You can read more about Emanuel Samson here.

On September 24, 2017, a gunman opened fire at the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch, Tennessee, part of the Greater Nashville Area, killing one person and injuring seven others.
One suspect, identified as 25-year-old native of Sudan, Emanuel Kidega Samson, was arrested after getting into an altercation with a bystander, and charged with first-degree murder. Around one week after the mass shooting, the suspect said that the attack was revenge for the 2015 Charleston church shooting.

Shooting[edit]

The gunman carried two handguns, and after fatally shooting a woman outside, he entered the church from the rear, according to police. He then walked through the church silently, shooting six more people.[1]
At this point, according to police, the gunman was confronted by an usher, 22-year-old Robert Engle, whom he pistol-whipped. During the ensuing struggle, Samson accidentally shot himself in the chest. Engle ran to his car to get his own gun and pointed it at the wounded Samson until police arrived to arrest him. Engle was called a "hero" by police.[2][3]
Around 50 parishioners were in the church at the time of the shooting,[4] which was reported at 11:15 a.m. local time as church services were ending.[3]

Victims[edit]

The deceased woman was identified as 38-year-old Melanie Smith. She was first shot in the face, then suffered additional gunshot wounds to the back when she attempted to flee the gunman. Six other people aged between 60 and 83 were injured by gunfire; their injuries were non-life-threatening.[1][4][5]

Suspect[edit]

The suspect, Emanuel Kidega Samson, was a 25-year-old Sudanese native residing legally in the United States, having arrived as a child in 1996. He was allegedly carrying two handguns, a 9mm and a .40-caliber, and was wearing a ski mask at the time of the attack.[1][4][6]
Samson had been licensed to work as an unarmed security guard from 2014-16, although his license was expired and he had been seeking its reinstatement.[7] Samson is a former member of the Burnette Chapel Church.[8]
A review of Samson's Facebook page by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) found sympathies and interests to black supremacist figures and groups like the New Black Panther Party and the Nation of Islam, as well as an affinity for conspiracy theories.[9] In the days leading up to the shooting, he posted "several cryptic messages" on his Facebook page.[1]
Samson had had two domestic disputes with his girlfriend in Murfreesboro in January and February earlier that year, but was not arrested. Three months earlier, he reportedly told his father that he was about to commit suicide, which prompted a police response.[10]
Immediately after the shooting, Samson was later charged with first-degree murder.[11] In a police interview, Samson suggested he was hearing voices and had a vision of the Burnette Chapel Church.[5]
Samson was scheduled to appear in Davidson County General Sessions court on September 27, and is being held at a county jail without bond. He allegedly had additional weapons in his vehicle,[1] as well as a note that referenced the Charleston church shooting of 2015.[5]
On October 6, it was reported that a preliminary hearing had been set for October 23, 2017.[12]

Aftermath and reactions[edit]

Nashville Mayor Megan Barry said, "This is a terrible tragedy for our city. My heart aches for the family and friends of the deceased as well as for the wounded victims and their loved ones."[13]
Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam said he was "praying for the victims and committed to supporting the Antioch community in the aftermath of this tragedy." The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice have both launched civil rightsinvestigations.[8][14]

Emergency responders were called to the Pin Hook Road church at 11:17 a.m., according to Metro Nashville Fire Department dispatch audio. One person was taken into custody at the scene. The shooter is among those wounded, the fire department says. One of the victims was in more serious condition than the others. The victims include three women and three men, police said. Two were in critical condition and the others are stable, a Vanderbilt University Medical Center spokesman told The Tennessean.

“The two critical patients suffered gunshot wounds to (their) chest and torso. The four other patients suffered gunshot wounds to their extremities,” John Howser told the newspaper.

The surviving victims include Minister Joey Spann, who is in critical condition, and his wife, Peggy Spann, 65, who is in stable condition. The other victims are now all in stable condition: Linda Bush, 68; William Jenkins, 83; Marlene Jenkins, 84; Katherine Dickerson, 64; and Robert Engle, 22, the usher who stopped the gunman, police said.

Prosecutors have said they're seeking life without parole for Samson, who faces a 43-count indictment, including a first-degree murder charge, in the September 2017 shooting at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ.

Members of the church packed the courtroom, at times becoming emotional when attorneys and witnesses recounted a Sunday filled with chaos, tragedy and heroism. The shooting rampage killed 38-year-old Melanie L. Crow of Smyrna, Tennessee. She was shot in the church parking lot, and dropped her Bible and notes from a recently concluded worship ceremony that had just concluded, Hunter said.

Samson, who used to attend the church, is black and the victims are white. Hunter explained that a note in Samson's car cited white supremacist Dylann Roof's massacre at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2015. It also referenced the red, black and green Pan-African flag, sometimes called RBG.

"Dylann Roof is less than nothing," the note read, Hunter said. "The blood that 10 of your kind will shed is that of the color upon the RBG flag in terms of vengeance." The note included an expletive and ended with a smiley face, Hunter said.

"This state will prove beyond all reasonable doubt that on Sept. 24, 2017, this defendant, Emanuel Kidega Samson, went to the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ with the intent to murder a minimum of 10 white churchgoers on that day," Hunter said. "You won't have to take the state's word for it though."

Hunter also said the calamity revealed a "true life hero."

Churchgoer Robert Caleb Engle has testified that during the rampage, he twice confronted the gunman, who was wearing a tactical vest and a motorcycle-style mask with a clown smile on it. Engle said he was pistol-whipped three times in the head. At one point, he pushed the gun back on the shooter and a shot fired, striking the gunman and sending him to the ground.

Engle said his father kicked the gun away, stood on the shooter's hand and told Engle to go get his gun out of his truck.
Engle came back with his weapon, put his foot on the shooter's back and stood guard until first responders arrived.
