  3. Fire and Ammonia Leak Closes Nebraska Beef Plant (Reuters) - Cargill Inc said its beef processing plant in Schuyler, Nebraska was closed early on Thursday due to a fire and an ammonia leak. The causes of the fire and ammonia leak are unknown at this time.

Puyallup boy killed in shooting was 'loving and caring' son, brother TheNewsTribune.com near Kalles Junior High in Puyallup 13-year-old Eddie Holmes was fatally shot Thursday afternoon..the 13-year-old boy who lives at the home took an unsecured shotgun from the master bedroom to show to the others, gave the gun to one of them, and shortly thereafter Holmes was shot. Police are investigating the incident as an unintentional shooting

San Jose: Man suffers life-threatening injury in downtownstabbing Early Thursday morning a homeless man was fatally stabbed across the street from Cesar Chavez Park, near Paseo de San Antonio and Market Street. It was the city's fifth homicide of 2013. Another man stabbed near the same park the next day, there was a serial arsonist a week before captured.
  7. 1 killed connected to 2 other home killings  February 6, 2014 Piano Teacher Ruthanne Lodato Killed in One of 3 Front Door Alexandria Murders  In Alexandria, Virginia, an older white man with a beard knocked on piano teacher Ruthanne Lodato's door, and shot her, killing her and also shot injuring the woman caring for her mother. The surviving caregiver was shot in the arm. Charles Severance was arrested on gun charges and murder investigation, and in September was charged the killing as well as killing of transportation official Ronald Kirby in his home and wife of Sheriff Nancy Dunning who was gunned down in her home.
