  17. 2014-10-03 Benton, Miguel (19) Georgia (DeKalb) Benton got Dekalb police officer Phil Cristy’s gun and shot him in the thigh and wrist, according to Dekalb police officer Eddie Stubbs, who then shot and killed Benton, who they were escorting from court to jail.[3]
  18. 2014-10-03 Volchkin, Dennis (28) New York (city) New York Police officers were called a second time to stop an argument between a man and his mother. Volchkin, sitting on his mother’s couch, refused to drop knives he was holding. Unidentified officers shot him.[4]
  19. 2014-10-03 Rose, Michael Daryle (49) Arizona (Flagstaff) Rose called 911, explaining his history of paranoia and hypertension. Officers used a Taser on Rose when he fought with them after refusing to get in an ambulance. He died in a jail holding cell.[5]

October 3, 2014 Tanker explodes at gas station in St. Roch neighborhood, driver killed The Times-Picayune A tanker truck exploded Friday morning at a Quicky's Discount gas station near North Robertson Street and Franklin Avenue in the St. Roch neighborhood, New Orleans officials said. Witnesses say tanker swerved to miss another car, crashed into Quicky's gas sign.  9:30 a.m. update: Police picked up a woman who they believe fled the scene of the wreck she caused while driving the wrong way commenter blames sign:wonder if the oversize non compliant sign has anything to do with it. the sign was erected after the new station was built. it was a very large 3 sided sign, poorly constructed that blocked view of traffic

The school was closed for the day. This is one of numerous bomb threats reported at schools throughout New England over the past three days.

It may have been the result of racing. In the Chino crash, investigators drew chalk outlines around skid marks that cut sharply from the westbound lane of Pine into the eastbound lane, ending at a white K-rail that had burn marks..  two lanes separated by a set of double-yellow lines

October 3, 2014 Man charged in bomb threat case attacks medic, says he's tortured by satellites Orlando Sentinel A 31-year-old Deltona man Matthew Osborne was charged with making a false report of planting a bomb and disrupting an educational institution at Volusia County's Pine Ridge High School at 1 p.m. Friday... third time within in a week that Central Florida schools had to be evacuated because of a bomb scare.. Minutes after the phone call, he called 911 and punched the paramedic in the throat. When taken into custody, Osborne used profanities, said he was being tortured by satellites and made other comments that did not make sense. He has been in the Volusia County Jail more than 20 times since 2003 for charges including burglary, domestic violence and drug possession. No connection has yet been made to seven county school evacuated on Sept 26, or 3 on September 29. Related Police: Man called in bomb threat at Walmart in Orlando. September 22, 2014, arrested October 3, 2014TEMECULA CA: Suspects arrested in fatal apartment shooting Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Temecula.Eligha Everett, 22, of Temecula, was arrested Friday on suspicion of shooting and killing Justin Triplett, 24, on September 22. Leah Nolan, also 22, was arrested on suspicion of aiding and harboring a criminal. Triplett was shot on September 22 in his apartment, where police found him shot and he died at the scene.

Once inside, Osaze Timothy, 20, pleaded not guilty Tuesday evening to two counts of burglary in the first degree and one count of assault in the 2nd degree. Police said Timothy entered McLean Hall, the dorm of David Medina, on Tuesday morning and around 9 a.m., stabbed Medina twice in the torso. Police said he also caused two lacerations to Medina's arms.

Gwen and John Haspels have been mission co-workers in Ethiopia since 1974, serving at the invitation of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY). They are currently planting churches among the Suri people of Ethiopia, who had none before the Haspelses and their EECMY colleagues arrived. A 2015 GMC Sierra was heading eastbound before crossing the median and hitting the trailer of the semi-truck. The GMC Sierra then lost control and hit the Mitsubishi Montero head-on, causing the Montero to roll into the north ditch.

  31. October 3, 2014 Truck driver cut free after head-on crash Stuff.co.nz A truck driver needed to be cut from his cab after two heavy trucks crashed head-on in Christchurch. The driver of a Mackley Carrier truck carrying three empty containers into town on Yaldhurst Rd was being cut from his cab while the driver of a truck on Fovant St appeared to have escaped the wreck. Police said the container truck and A. G. Excavation tip-truck crashed at the intersection of the two roads about 9.40am.
