June 19, 2019 Murder of Sacramento Officer Tara O'Sullivan Tara O'Sullivan, 26, was shot by the boyfriend while helping a woman during a domestic dispute. Her death came just six months after  another recent graduate of the Sacramento Police Academy, Natalie Corona, was killed in nearby Davis, Calif.(6)  The suspect was 45-year-old American from the Phillipines Adel Sambrano Ramos of Sacramento and said his standoff with police lasted eight hours, with five officers firing their weapons. Ramos was in custody and scheduled to appear in court Monday. A relative of Ramos said the woman being helped by O'Sullivan was the suspect's girlfriend. She was not injured.(14)

Ramos has four misdemeanor cases listed in Sacramento Superior Court records, including one that is still active. He was charged with assault and battery on November 26, 2018. That case is still pending. In January 2001, Ramos was convicted of petty theft and sentenced to three years of informal probation and 10 days in the sheriff’s work program. His probation ended early in 2002.  In 1998, he was charged with assault and battery and a domestic violence charge, corporal injury to a spouse, both misdemeanors.
