Attacks on shopping malls, stores, and other retail locations, persons and property by gunmen, there are also attacks by cars driven into doors and walls and propane gas tanks which are not recognized as attacks but just "accidents". These are almost never characterized by authorities as terrorist attacks because there is always some cover story pointing to mental illness or anger.

April 10, 2015 7 injured, truck destroyed, vehicles damaged 2015 Thailand Koh Samui Car Bomb A car bomb explodes in a Mazda pickup truck left in the basement garage of a shopping mall in the first attack on the popular Thai tourist island of Koh Samui. Seven were wounded including a girl from Italy. There was a second attack at almost the same time when a cooperative warehouse in Surat Thai was set on fire.  Government blamed "red shirt" radicals who had bombed Bangkok in February, but others pointed to Muslim ethnic Malay separatists from the province of Yala, 500 km and 8 hours away where the truck was stolen from and 6,300 have been killed in clashes since 2011.

Sunday February 16, 2014. Cyle Wayne Quadlin Shoots Man At AZ Walmart Claims Defence
In Chandler Arizona, Kriston Charles Belinte Chee was at a Walmart buying supplies to help build a church when he got into an argument with Cyle Wayne Quadlin, who shot Chee dead when he feared for his life when he was losing the argument. Chee's wife believes the claim of self defence was false, but police refused to arrest Quadlin after seeing there was an argument on the video which confirmed Quadlin's description which did not escalate into a physical fight.

February 14, 2014 Norfolk Mall Shooting Brawl At the Gallery at Military Circle in Norfolk Virginia, a group of men walked up to another group with children and wanted to fight them. At the Victoria Secret the scuffle escalated until one man pulled out a gun and shot another man and then left. There had previously been  there have been more than 800 calls for service at the mall in the past 12 months, mostly for larceny, alarm, disturbance-disorderly and assaults.

Saturday January 25, 2014 Columbia Mall Shooting A shooting at the Columbia Mall in Maryland results in 3 dead including the shooter at 11:15 a.m.

January 15, 2014 Gunman Shot Dead After Killing 2 At Indiana Grocery Store 3 Dead as a gunman entered through a deli door and fired a gun up and down a Elkhart Indiana supermarket at night. He killed an employee and a shopper before the gunman was shot dead after he aimed at police officers. The gunman lived in the area, but was no apparent motive and his victims appeared to be chosen at random.

November 4, 2013 Garden State Plaza New Jersey Mall Shooting In Paramus New Jersey, Richard Shoop, 20, of Teaneck, N.J., entered the Garden State Plaza shopping mall clothed in black in a ballistic vest wearing a motorcycle helmet near closing time at 9 p.m. firing shots before his body was recovered where he evidently shot himself.

December 24, 2013 San Diego Christmas Eve Mall Parking Lot Shooting Ilona Flint died and Gianni’s 22-year-old brother Salvatore Belvedere were found shot in a car in the parking lot of the Macy’s in the Westfield Mission Valley Mall near San Diego at 1:20 a.m. Ilona was working the late shift Christmas Eve which which was open until 2 for last minute shopping and called 911 before she was found dead. Salvatore Belvedere was reported to be with his brother Salvatore and his girlfriend Ilona before he himself was reported as missing

On July 20, 2012, a mass shooting occurred at the Century 16 at Town Center at Aurora, during a midnight screening of the film The Dark Knight Rises. A gunman, dressed in tactical clothing, set off tear gas grenades and shot into the audience with multiple firearms, killing 12 people and injuring 58 others. The sole suspect is James Eagan Holmes, who was arrested outside the cinema minutes later.[10][11]

July 16, 2003 Santa Monica Farmer's Market Massacre / Rampage left 10 dead and 63 hurt, after then 86-year-old George Ressell Weller's car either accidentally or intentionally roared through the market on the afternoon. The biweekly farmers' market was closed off, but he hit a car, then accelerated around a road closure sign, crashed through wooden sawhorses, and plowed through the busy marketplace crowd. He was found guilty of ten counts of vehicular manslaughter, the sentencing judge noted that Weller “showed enormous indifference” and “unbelievable callousness.” A jewish observer said it mirrored a terrorist attack in Israel. The judge sentenced Weller to five years' felony probation, saying that Weller deserved to go to prison, but at nearly 90 years of age and suffering from heart disease, he would simply be a burden to taxpayers. He was also ordered to pay about $107,100 in fines and restitution

August 19, 2002 Massive $130M Santana Row Fire in San Jose The City of San Jose, California, experienced the worst fire loss in its history at the huge nearly completed Santa Row shopping center and apartment development. 11 alarms brought in 221 firefighters and 65 pieces of apparatus. After ten years, investigators have still not found any evidence of construction work that could have started the blaze, or any proof that it was intentionally set. It was about a year after the 9/11 attacks, but no media ever speculated that terrorism could have been a motive for an arson attack.

She drove up and down trashing aisles until she was stopped and arrested by police in a car which smelled strongly of alcohol. She was charged her with first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving
