Authorities quickly caught on, and the campus would remain open, though many refused to go to class. McKelvey was charged with making a false public alarm, though students called for the college president to resign because of alleged racism on campus.

And in more messages, she declared, “The cops wont save you…. you’re black,” and “Black people at kean university will die.”  But authorities quickly caught onto the scheme – that is, after the Department of Homeland Security and state, county and local law-enforcement officials were notified.  The following day, the university police announced the campus would remain open.  many students were so troubled by the threats that they stayed in their rooms the following day and refused to go to class, one student told WNBC-TV.... calls for Kean University President Dawood Farahi to resign from his position. McKelvey is being charged with a single count of making a false public alarm. Her first court date is set for Dec. 14. "We are saddened to learn that the person allegedly responsible was an active participant in the rally that took place on on campus on Tuesday, Nov. 17, and a former student," Farahi said.
