January 22, 2018 Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud Ohio Terrorist Case Somali American immigrant Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud, 26, of Columbus, Ohio was sentenced to 22 years in a terrorist plost. He had pleaded guilty more than two years before to terrorism charges. He was born in Somalia but came to the U.S. as a child. He traveled in 2014 to Syria to join his brother Abdifatah Aden who was killed fighting that same year to train with the al-Nusrah Front terrorist group affliated with Al Qaeda. He returned returned to the U.S. with plans to attack a military base or a prison, to "kill three or four American soldiers execution style . Mohamud was indicted in federal court on April 16, 2015 on terrorism charges.(9)
