198 killed 147 injured February 18, 2003 The Daegu Korea subway fire was a mass murder which killed at least 198 people and injured at least 147. An arsonist set fire to a train stopped at theJungangno Station of the Daegu Metropolitan Subway in Daegu, South Korea. The fire then spread to a second train which had entered the station from the opposite direction a few minutes later. Not terrorism.

3 arrested Apr 15, 2003 Tyler anti-government terrorist cyanide poison gas plot American attempt at domestic terrorism thwarted in April 2003 with the arrest of three individuals in Tyler, Texas and the seizure of a cyanide gas bomb along with a large arsenal that included at least 100 other conventional bombs, machine guns, an assault rifle, an unregistered silencer, and 500,000 rounds of ammunition. There were 65 pipe bombs, and briefcase IED bombs that could be detonated by remote control. The chemical stockpile seized included sodium cyanide, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and acetic acid.
The three individuals were linked to white supremacist and anti-government groups
1 Jun 2003 Virginia Jihad Network Alexandria, Virginia Thwarted plot 11 arrested for planning attacks on U.S. servicemen , June 2003. Eleven men were arrested in Alexandria, Virginia, for weapons counts and for violating the Neutrality Acts, which prohibit U.S. citizens and residents from attacking countries with which the United States is at peace. Four of the 11 men pled guilty. Upon further investigation, the remaining seven were indicted on additional charges of conspiring to support terrorist organizations. They were found to have connections with al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and Lashkar-i-Taiba, a terrorist organization that targets the Indian government. The authorities stated that the Virginia men had used paintball games to train and prepare for battle. The group had also acquired surveillance and night vision equipment and wireless video cameras.[15] Two more individuals were later indicted in the plot: Ali al-Timimi, the group's spiritual leader, and Ali Asad Chandia. Ali al-Timimi was found guilty of soliciting individuals to assault the United States and sentenced to life in prison. Ali Asad Chandia received 15 years for supporting Lashkar-i-Taiba.[16] Randall Todd Royer, Ibrahim al-Hamdi, Yong Ki Kwon, Khwaja Mahmood Hasan, Muhammed Aatique, and Donald T. Surratt pled guilty and were sentenced to prison terms ranging from three years and 10 months to 20 years. Abdi was part of a clandestine cell of al-Qaida which sought to bring "death and destruction to Columbus". Nuradin Abdi entered the United States as a asylum seeker from Somalia. lived in a predominantly Muslim neighborhood on the north side of Columbus. According to one report, Abdi flew to Ethiopia to train in a military-style training camp in January 2000. There he allegedly was trained in the use of guns, guerrilla warfare, and bombs. He returned two months later. Abdi met with Christopher Paul and Iyman Faris at a coffee shop in Upper Arlington on August 6, 2002. According to Paul (who was awaiting trial for a separate plot to bomb European tourist resorts), Abdi first suggested shooting up a mall. Paul responded saying "that's a stupid idea". Abdi subsequently suggested bombing the mall, but few other details have been released.... Abdi was arrested on November 28, 2003 and charged with Conspiracy to ... On 31 July 2007, Abdi plead guilty to one count of conspiring to support terrorists.
November 22, 2003 Murder of University of North Dakota student Dru Sjodin University of North Dakota and Gamma Phi Beta sorority member is missing after he shift at a shopping mall, and her body is not found until snow melts in April 2004. Level-3 sex offender Alfonso Rodriguez was arrested after admitting he was in the mall and found with knives purchased nearby Rodriguez was just released from jail in May 2003 after completing a 23-year prison term for stabbing and trying to kidnap a woman and also previously pleaded guilty to raping another woman. Lawyers claim Rodriguez is mentally disabled. In 2007, Rodriguez was formally sentenced to death and prison.
December 5, 2003 Nancy Dunning Sheriff Wife 2003 Killing Real estate agent Nancy Dunning and the wife of now deceased Sheriff Jim Dunning was killed inside her Del Ray home. First of 3 similar killings for which Charles Severance is being investigated, with piano teacher Ruthanne Lodato and transportation official Ronald Kirby in 2014. Charles S. Severance went on trial in 2015 for 3 murders. Suspect attempted to ask Russian embassy for asylum for unknown reasons.
