December 30, 2019 Houston Texas Muder of Jazmine Barnes 7-year old Barnes was killed in a drive-by shooting in Houston at 7 a.m. December 30, 2019. The unknown assailant pulled up along side the family's truck and opened fire, injuring the mother and other child. [63] King used his Twitter and Instagram following to spread information and awareness. He also collected information from eyewitnesses to help the Harris County Sheriff's Office. King and former classmate S. Lee Merritt offered a $25,000 award for information leading to an arrest of the unknown suspect. After no information for 24 hours, the reward was later raised to $60,000, with $35,000 from their private funds, and an additional $25,000 from donors.[64][65] On January 6, Texas authorities charged 20-year-old Eric Black Jr who later admitted he was involved in the shooting. He faces a charge of capital murder.[66]Prosecutors named a second person, Larry Woodruffe, as an additional suspect in the shooting.[66] Police do not believe Jazmine’s family was the intended target and that they may have been shot at "as a result of mistaken identity."[63]

Police arrest black suspect for New Year's killing, burning house in Battle Creek An 18-year-old Battle Creek man is being held without bond after he was charged Friday with a New Year's homicide. Drequan T. Scott was charged with open murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony during a 2½ minute afternoon arraignment in Calhoun County District Court. Scott is charged in the shooting death of Howard Gillette, 58, who was found dead on New Year's morning in his burning house at 250 Graves St. Battle Creek firefighters were called to the house at 12:47 a.m. and said they found the house on fire and Gillette dead on the kitchen floor. An autopsy showed he had been shot three times. On Wednesday Battle Creek police found Scott hiding in the attic of a home in the first block of Maple Terrace, where he had been staying with a girlfriend. 1. 2019 Tokyo car attack A car plows into New Year's celebrators in Tokyo, injuring eight. A ninth person was assaulted by the driver after he got out of the vehicle. Police believe the incident to be intentional. (Global News)(ChannelNewsAsia) CNN: suspect, named as Kazuhiro Kusakabe, initially told police that he had conducted a terrorist act, later saying he had deliberately driven the car down the narrow street to protest his opposition to the death penalty, telling police he "would not make any excuse" for his actions. CNN affiliate TV Asahi reported, citing police, that a large amount of kerosene was discovered in the suspect's car. Traces of the liquid were also found on his clothes. The suspect reportedly told police that he had acted in "retaliation for the execution of Aum cult members." remaining members of the doomsday cult, which was found to be responsible for a 1995 sarin gas attack on a Tokyo subway, were executed in July.  Police told several media outlets that they were investigating a link between Kusakabe and the Aum Shinrikyo doomsday cult. According to Asahi, the alleged perp said to police that “I planned to set fire by spreading kerosene with the high-pressure washer, targeting a crowd at Meiji Shrine,”.[2] However police suspect he changed his plan after finding that vehicles were not permitted to the shrine due to high volume of visitors.[1]

CA Torrance bowling alley shooting mass shooting occurred on the evening of 4 January 2019 at a bowling alleycalled the Gable House Bowl in Torrance, California, part of Los Angeles County's Pacific coastal area. San Francisco Chronicle In the case of the Tubbs Fire, some clues — like a description of a badly “wood-peckered” private power pole — brought officials closer to their ...More than 15 months had passed when, on Thursday, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection identified privately owned electrical equipment on the property as the fire’s cause — leaving PG&E blameless. In that time, investigators collected pieces of melted wires and charred debris, studied burn patterns, pulled records, interviewed witnesses and considered whether a hitchhiker with a reputation for starting fires might have visited Bennett Lane. , according to a Cal Fire data from 2016, the most recent year available. Of the 2,816 fires that ignited in state jurisdictions that year, 8 percent were blamed on arson, 10 percent on electrical equipment and 13 percent on burning debris. Other causes included lightning, vehicles, and kids playing with fire. In 27 percent of cases, investigators couldn’t settle on a cause.  Oct. 14, 2017, Martinez spoke to Officer Amy Hunter with the Napa Police Department about a hitchhiker who was “known to start campfires” and had been picked up the day of the fire along the Napa Valley’s Silverado Trail. It turned out the hitchhiker had a solid alibi,  concluded that the origin of the blaze was “the primary residential structure and immediate area surrounding the structure” on the Bennett Lane property, with “the possibility of a fire cause by the structure and/or private conductor lines.”

More significantly, Martinez found that “it is unlikely PG&E equipment is responsible for causing the Tubbs Fire.”
