April 20, 2017 Clinton Willis Shoots 2 Laclede Gas workers Himself Gas Bill Rage crime: terror: terrorist style target, no motive killed: 3 including suspect details: Clinton Willis, (African American 51), walked up to and shot and killed two  Laclede Gas employees, identified as Alex Boschert, 27, and William Froelich who were connecting gas to a home then turned the gun on himself, without any exchange of words.  In 2012 Willis filed for bankruptcy and friends said he was concerned about unpaid utility bills. In 1997 Willis pleaded guilty to drug trafficking, and first and second-degree assault in another case where he choked a man after being accused of a burglary. Then he shot a man twice who came to try and stop the assault where he was sentenced to 14-years and served 11 in prison. As a felon he could not legally posess a gun.

Apr 21, 2017 Sources tell the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the shooter was upset about an unpaid electric bill.  Family and friends of the shooter tell police that he was concerned about not paying Ameren Missouri. That could be a possible motive in the fatal shootings. They did not know why he would shoot himself.  He did not have a history of mental issues or drug abuse.   The shooter lived about a mile southeast of the scene of the shooting in the 5800 block of Highland.  Police say the gunman walked up to the two men who worked for Laclede Gas on Thursday morning and started shooting, then turned the gun on himself.

News 4 looked at the court records in the assault case and the police account of what happened appears to show Willis losing his temper and turning violent. According to court documents, Willis choked a man after being accused of a burglary. Then he shot a man twice who came to try and stop the assault. That second man survived but the report by police said Willis then chased the first man and tried to shoot him too.  In 1997 Willis was sentenced to 14-years in prison. He was released after serving 11.   In 2012 Willis filed for bankruptcy
