1 killed 1 charged murder May 29, 2015  April 14, 2017 sentence Darla Renee Jackson Road Rage Killing Navy Zacharias Buob  San Diego woman Darla Renee Jackson, 25 was held on first-degree murder charges after hitting and killing a motorcyclist 39-year-old Navy Chief Petty Officer Zachary Buob. She hit his motorcycle, then ran him over with her car. In defense, the suspect's mother [lied for her] saying the motorcycle was weaving in an dangerous and erratic manner and hit her car, and she wanted to get his insurance information. This did not look like an accident as media called it a case of road rage. She pled guilty and was sentenced to six years in 2017.  Defense attorney said that the charge should have been gross vehicular manslaughter, not murder. The prosecution said Jackson passed Buob in the fast lane of northbound Interstate 5 near E Street, swerved toward him several times -- causing him to flinch -- chased him across four lanes of traffic, then ran him down on state Route 54,  going 80 mph when traffic slowed and she plowed into him
