other major factor may be Adacia Chambers’ diabetes. Both the boyfriend and father of the Stillwater parade crash suspect claim she is diabetic, but she was not being treated for her health conditions.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Chambers told the lawyer that she only “remembers the end” of the Stillwater homecoming parade.
“There’s a very very dark area there that’s hard for her to recall,” her lawyer said. “There was a period there, for lack of better terms, she could have blacked out.”
past, diabetic drivers have been arrested after being found disoriented and confused while behind a wheel. In one case from 2010, a man was seemingly intoxicated and uncooperative, and when police arrested him he broke his wrist, which happened to have a bracelet identifying him as diabetic. The incident led to a civil rights lawsuit.
also injured dozens of people, including 11 victims younger than 13.
The dead adults were identified as Nakita Prabhakar Nakal, a 23-year-old MBA student from India at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, and a married couple, Bonnie Jean Stone and Marvin Lyle Stone, both 65, of Stillwater.
All four died from multiple blunt-force injuries, said Timothy Dwyer, the Oklahoma medical examiner's office chief investigator.

The 2015 Oklahoma State University homecoming parade crash was a vehicle collision that occurred on October 24, 2015 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The auto-spectator crash occurred during a homecoming parade for Oklahoma State University–Stillwater that morning, as it was reaching its termination point on the university's campus.[1] As of 7:00 p.m. Central Time on October 24, four people were confirmed to have been killed in the crash, and 47 others were reported injured.[2][3][4]
Overview[edit]
The incident occurred at 10:31 a.m. Central Time that morning (1531 UTC), during Oklahoma State University's annual Sea of Orange Homecoming Parade, which was being held that morning, leading up to that day's football game between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Kansas Jayhawks. After the parade had crossed the intersection of Hall of Fame Avenue and Main Streets (0.40 miles (0.64 km) east ofBoone Pickens Stadium) on the university campus, where the parade was supposed to conclude, 25-year-old Adacia Avery Chambers – a native of Oologah and resident of Stillwater – drove her gray 2014 Hyundai Elantra south on Main at speeds above 40 miles per hour (64 km/h) into several barriers used to block off commuter traffic and then proceeded to hit an unmanned motorcycle belonging to the Stillwater Police Department, which was providing security assistance for the event; Chambers' car then careened into around 50 to 55 people among the group of spectators present for the parade, before stopping when its two front tires popped the curb on the southwest corner of the intersection.[1][3][4][5][6]
Justin DeNoya, who spotted Chambers after she left a Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers location on Boomer Road in northwestern Stillwater, where she worked at as a part-time employee, told the Stillwater News-Press that Chambers "looked like she had been crying" after she had left the restaurant a half-hour before the accident and headed north on foot; however, she did not appear intoxicated at the time according to the eyewitness.[7]
Local paramedics and firefighters participating in the parade immediately began tending to those who were injured. Three of the victims who were hit by Chambers' vehicle in the collision – 23-year-old Nakita Prabhaker Nakal, a native of Mumbai, India who was an attending senior at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond; and husband and wife Marvin Lyle and Bonnie Jean Stone, both age 65 and residing in Stillwater – died at the scene; 2-year-old Nash Lucas, also of Stillwater, died from severe injuries he suffered while being treated at The Children's Hospital at OU Medicine in Oklahoma City hours after the crash (his mother was among those injured in the crash). 47 other people – including nine children between the ages of 1 and 13 – were admitted for various injuries at Stillwater Medical Center; OU Medical Center and The Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City; and St. Johns Medical Center in Tulsa. The intersection was subsequently blocked off by Stillwater and university law enforcement.[2][4][5][8][9][10][11][12]
Chambers was arrested near the crash site by Stillwater Police Department officers present at the scene of the accident on suspicion of driving under the influence; she was later placed into a detox unit in the Payne County Jail. Results of blood tests to gauge the levels of any alcohol or narcotic inxoticants in Chambers' body – a requirement for police to administer for "serious" vehicle accidents involving a fatality under Oklahoma state law – are expected to be released within several days of being administered. Chambers will be arraigned at Payne County District Court on October 26, with any additional charges against her pending further investigation into the cause of the collision that is presented to the Payne County District Attorney’s office.[10]
Reactions[edit]
During a press conference on the crash held that afternoon, Burns Hargis, president of Oklahoma State University, stated, "Tragically we lost three. I hope we don't lose anymore. [...] The Cowboy family pulls together, unfortunately, we’ve had to do it before, and we're going do it again." Stillwater mayor Gina Noble, who had served as the parade's grand marshal, later remarked that "We are heartbroken at this tragedy." Noble later commented, "We’ve never seen anything like this. [...] We’re shocked. We are definitely subdued in mood and we’re still trying to understand. [...] We will get through this together and figure out how to help those who need the help."[10][13]
The homecoming football game between Oklahoma State and Kansas – in which the Cowboys defeated the Jayhawks, 58-10 – was played as scheduled at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon; apep rally originally set to be held before the game was cancelled, however. Before the game (which was televised nationally on ESPN2, and locally on ABC affiliates KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City and KTUL in Tulsa), Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, an alumna of the university who was in attendance at the game, led players and spectators in a moment of prayer as the United States flag flew at half staff in Boone Pickens Stadium.[10][14]
Fallin expressed condolences during a press conference that occurred during halftime of the game, "Our hearts and prayers go out with those who lost loved ones today, to those that were injured in the tragedy," and referenced the two previous tragedies involving the university during the past 14 years (the January 2001 plane crash that killed ten members of theCowboys basketball team and the November 2011 plane crash that killed four people, including Cowgirls basketball head coach Kurt Budke and assistant coach Miranda Serna), adding "One thing I do know about Oklahoma people. They’re strong. They’re very compassionate. They believe in prayer. They believe in comforting people and helping during a time of crisis and need. We’ll get through this again. But certainly it’s a very painful experience for those of us here, and certainly for all Oklahomans."[10]

The attorney for Oklahoma crash driver Adacia Chambers stated he feels ...comment defends murderer: Shame on everyone commenting without hearing the full details. I wonder what your life would become if you had thousands of people to judge you on every bad decision you’ve ever made. This girl could have a serious issue at hand. Mental health isn’t taken seriously when other factors are screwing your emotions and judgement. It’s horrible what happened to those who lost their lives or were injured. There’s no words to describe the sadness and sorrow the people feel for the victims. It’s horrible and so upsetting. These individual tragedies cannot let us immediately decide this woman did it on purpose, that she ever wanted such a thing, or that it was her intention. Let go of your egos and try and see as those, all loving, do. When she comes out and declares it was a purposeful act on her part, and intentional, that’s when these utterly disposable comments some of you are posting can be directed and expressed appropriately. Other wise, you people come off naive and flustered in your grief. It’s okay to be upset. It’s not okay to say such hateful things. You demanding someone who can’t stand up for their mistake be put to death, is no different than the exact type of person you’re putting down. Now you’ve become the killer. Your the disgraceful one because it’s your choice to say you want her dead. So shame on all of you saying such horrible things. Positive vibes to all families involved. possible that the girl involved in the horrific crash simply panicked and thought she was stepping on the breaks, when in fact she was actually stepping on the gas. That is truly an unfortunate accident. Playing judge and jury and saying such horrible things without the facts is hurtful. It is the crashing of words that leaves a path of destruction for all the families. Thank you Anonymous for the wonderful post Omg. Poor girl. Surely she is innocent. Shame on this country for alleging that she was drunk. An arrest should come AFTER the facts. It’s not like she is a dangerous, violent criminal who... DESERVES to be in jail. Let’s face it, jails and prisons are only for certain people and poor little innocent Adacia is not one of them. Smh.ust maybe, we should all wait for the facts to come out. From multiple sources it sounds like this girl was not the type to be this irresponsible. She may have tried drugs for the first time..? She could have, indeed, been up partying the night before..? The truth is, at this moment in time, we just don’t know the whole story. I think, given what we have heard, we should hold judgment before the country assassinates this girl. If we find out she was using/taking any form of illicit drug (or being drunk from excess ETOH use) the night/morning before the accident, then she should (and I am quite sure she will) face whatever penalty the legal system deems is appropriate. I would just like to throw this out for consideration; in my 50 years of seeing or reading about these horrible events, I think her family/acquaintances/peers have provided enough information to afford this girl a momentary pause before the court of public opinion finds her guilty. She could very easily be guilty of driving when she should not have been behind the wheel, this is a definite possibility. However, if she did use drugs/alcohol in a reckless manner, those around her the most will tell you this type of behavior was never witnessed before. Of course, for obvious reasons, you cannot rely on anything the family says. Nonetheless, the father had a degree of sincerity, or maybe believability is a more accurate description of the way he spoke of his daughter. I never got the feeling he was trying to defend his daughter, rather he wanted to simply say his daughter has never displayed this level of irresponsibility to his knowledge. I don’t know, the fact he was trying to describe his daughter’s history, as opposed to blindly saying she is innocent, seemed to carry some weight in my opinion. Moreover, her peers at work described her as being more mature and responsible than the average person. These things may mean nothing, I understand this. But, I’m jus saying, it might be reasonable to hold off on being this girl’s judge and jury until more facts come out. Anyway, just my $0.02.
