  1. September 14, 2013 Driver Punches Ole Miss Student Causing Brain Injury in Austin  Austin Texas: Carson Otter, a senior at the University of Mississippi from Indiana was in town for a football game. Witnesses saw him walking on the street with he got into an argument with a passing car. The occupant got out and struck him, causing Otter's head to strike the ground and sending him to the hospital with a brain injury. The assailant who has no description got back in and disappeared. Victim emerged from coma after brain surgery. One of a number of assaults on men at sporting events.

September 14, 2013 Car Accident Survivor Shot When He Charges Police in Charlotte NC A police officer was charged with violating manslaughter laws in shooting an unarmed man who had survived a car accident. Jonathan Ferrell, a 24-year-old former Florida A and M University football player crashed his car into the woods in Charlotte North Carolina, and then walked to the nearest house where he banged on the door furiously. The woman thought he was a burglar and called the police at 2:30 a.m. Ferrell charged at the 3 police who arrived, and after a taser proved ineffective, officer Randall Kerrick shot Ferrell several times. Though initially ruled appropriate and lawful self-defense, a subsequent investigation concluded that Kerrick had violated manslaughter laws, and the officer turned himself in.

September 14, 2013 Random Stabbing Kills Professor after Sounders soccer game September 14, 2013 After a Seattle Sounders soccer game, suspect Donnell Jackson was arrested after he stabbed English professor Troy Wolff to death as he defended his partner Kristin Ito who was also injured. Wolff was killed as the suspect dropped the knife and was taken into custody with no further incident.

September 14, 2013 Non-terrorist Near Beheading of Firefighter in Toronto Lebanese Cafe  At about 1 a.m. Nabil Huruy, 23, of Toronto repeatedly stabbed in the head and nearly beheaded a firefighter Dominic Parker at a Lebanese cafe in an "unprovoked" attack with no apparent motive.  Parker had ridden his bike to the cafe and was sitting when he was attacked in an apparent ambush. Counter-terrorist blogs believe the attackers mideastern ethnicity and Islamic religion may help explain a possible motive. Huruy was charged with first-degree murder, but not terrorism
  5. 1 killed September 14, 2013 Taliban kill teenager boy for contacting Afghan police Taliban militants abducted and killed a 15-year-old Afghan boy and accused him of contacting Afghan police by mobile phone in the Ghazni province of Afghanistan. Deputy provincial governor, Mohammad Ali Ahmadi condemned the killing. He stated Ali Sina was just a school student playing soccer with his friends and did not have any connections with the government institutions, and the Taliban group does not "respect the common civilians and has no value for their lives."
