June 25, 2013 Mercedes S-Class Slams Into Michel Richard’s Central DC restaurant A Mercedes Benz S-class jumped a curb onto the the sidewalk and crashed into the front of Michel Richard's restaurant in downtown Washington D.C. during peak rush hour traffic. Three women, including the drive and a 2 year old child were injured. The cause of the crash was unknown, but no press account noted that Inspire magazine had suggested attacks on a DC restaurant might hurt government workers.

Car smashes into downtown building By Nicole Chavez and Stefanie Dazio,June 25, 2013[this one sure looks like a terrorist attack in an expensive car] New high-end S-class mercedes jumped a curb downtown Tuesday evening, hurtled through an outdoor dining area and crashed into an office building, D.C. police said. Four people were injured, including a 2-year-old boy. Police said the car struck the building, which houses chef Michel Richard’s Central restaurant, at 11th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW at 6:19 p.m. A police captain on the scene said that the three injured adults were women, and that one appeared to be the driver of the car. It was not clear whether any of those injured were diners. All four were taken to hospitals. Timothy Wilson, a spokesman for the D.C. fire department, said the child and two adults had suffered life-threatening injuries. It was not immediately clear what caused the vehicle to veer from the street at a time when the area usually has heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
A close friend of mine died in a single vehicle accident in January which had no apparent cause. His wife refuses to consider the possibility that he might have died because he lost control on account of fiiddling with the radio or adjusting the sunvisor or getting a kleenex from the glovebox. It's hard to accept that such everyday actions are capable of bringing about catastrophic results when something goes wrong to cause loss of control .
"Medical emergencies" can sometimes be proven at autopsy (though not in the case of my friend) but I think at other times are beliefs to which bereaved loved ones cling to avoid facing what they find to be unacceptable.
