Suspect Says Indian Mujahideen Ordered Blast At pro-Hindu rally

Suspects Says Indian Mujahideen Ordered Blast At pro-Hindu rally
Crowd attack | Bombing | Muslim suspect | Asian victims | Terrorist organization

Sunday October 27, 2013 Eight coordinated bombs exploded across the city of Patna and at a rally for Hindu nationalist opposition leader Narendra Modi, killing at least 7 and wounding 83.  One of two arrested suspects confessed he followed instructions from the banned Indian Mujahideen, a group associated with militants in Pakistan, though no group claimed responsibility. Police arrested three in state and another three in Jharkhand where police found explosives and bomb materials. Modis and his hard-line Hindu party have been accused of encouraging mobs which left 1,100 dead after they attacked Muslim neighborhoods in Gujarat in 2002. Six men were arrested that planted 3 bombs each for a total of 18 bombs across the city. Among those arrested was Tehseen Akhtar, a tech skilled top Indian Mujahideen operative and the mentor of Imtiaz Ansari.

Note - There were two coordinates bombs at the Boston Marathon. Unlike random shooting attacks and car rampage attacks in the US where the suspects give no sensible motive, a suspect as confessed he was acting on orders of a terrorist group, which may explain motive for US incidents

Explosives, pressure cooker recovered

Following disclosures made by Imtiaz to police in Patna,
Jharkhand Police on Sunday night raided a two-storey
house in Sithio village in Ranchi and recovered a
pressure cooker with electrical wires attached to it.

The IED was recovered from one of three rooms allegedly
used by Imtiaz on the first floor of the building. One of
the suspects is a relative of Imtiyaz's, and lived in the
same house, police sources said. Two of the other
suspects including Tariq alias Anul too are residents
of the village, the sources said.

"About 225 g of a grey powder was found in the pressure
cooker. We suspect it is ammonium nitrate. The circuit
had been completed in the IED. I wouldn't call it a
perfect bomb, but it could cause a low-intensity blast,"
additional director general of police S N Pradhan,

Patna serial blasts: 7 bombs rock city, live bomb found under Modi’s dais (platform)

By Niticentral Staff on October 27, 2013
Hours ahead of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s Hunkar rally in Patna on Sunday, a series of blasts rocked the city. While one bomb rocked the Railway Station and a couple of unexploded ones were found in the vicinity, another blew up near the Elphistine theatre and the twin towers. A total of seven bombs exploded in all that claimed five lives and injured more than 70. Hours before the multiple explosions, a crude bomb went off in a newly constructed toilet at the Patna Railway Station, two km from the BJP’s ‘Hunkar rally’ venue. Five people died from blast injuries and 74 others were being treated for these injuries, according to Vimal Karak, Deputy Superintendent of Patna Medical College Hospital. Six low intensity blasts occurred on the outer periphery of the Gandhi Maidan, Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami told sources in Delhi. One bomb went off before the Eliphistine cinema hall on the western side of the rally venue, police said. Tens of thousands of people had gathered at the rally venue.

Patna blasts: a ringing made-in-China phone startled the alleged bombers

Inside a toilet at the Patna Railway station on Sunday, a man's mobile phone suddenly rang, a little louder than usual as it was a Chinese handset... The loud ringing startled two men busy in another stall in the toilet, assembling bombs planned to target Narendra Modi's 'Hunkar rally' in the city's Gandhi Maidan, not far from the railway station. Flustered by the sound, the men dropped the bomb in the cistern of the toilet, and it exploded, moments before Mr Modi, the BJP's presumptive prime minister, arrived in the city

six men planted 18 bombs all over Patna before Mr Modi's rally.

All six have been identified and three have been arrested, say the police, who allege that these men are members of the terror group Indian Mujahideen.  ...The police believe that both Tabish and Imtiaz are big catches and might have been involved in other blasts.  The six men were reportedly tasked with planting three bombs each at and near the rally venue, Gandhi Maidan. With the discovery of three bombs yesterday, police say all 18 explosives are now accounted for. Seven exploded on Sunday, while the rest have been defused or detonated by bomb squads.
