1 kidnapping 1 robbery, 1 arrested January 23, 2013 Ethiopian Bereket Piatt Bank Robber Kidnaps College Student  In Everett, Washington a female student attending Everett Community College was kidnapped by Bereket Piatt who threatened her with a gun. He demanded she drive her to various locations across Everett, and park downtown, where he robbed a Wells Fargo bank with his gun and the student had to wait, telling her he would track her down from her licence plate and kill her if she fled. He then had her drive back to the original location. She was uninjured and the told the police.

Piatt made off with $8,000. Piatt spent the stolen money on a used car, strippers and a plane ticket to Puerto Rico. His father said his adopted son his son excelled at track and cross country, but dropped out when he could not keep up with schoolwork and lived with clinical depression. Piatt offered no explanation or motive. He faces 4 years in prison for robbery.

Alternate theory: No motive makes any sense unless it was a non-lethal dry run for the Boston case of Amy Lord who was hijacked and told to drive across Boston to withdraw money from ATMs before she was killed and her car burned. The only explanation that would make sense is if he and the suspect in the Lord case were on a sacrifice mission for a greater cause that we don't know about, and financial gain was just a cover story to commit mayhem for some unknown reason for some unknown party.

5:00 p.m. on the evening of January 23, 2013, a female student attending Everett Community College returned to her vehicle parked on a public street near the college. As she neared her vehicle, an African-American male walked up, pointed a gun and demanded she get into her vehicle. Once inside, the man directed the student to drive to numerous locations around north Everett and the downtown district. At one point the man directed the student to park in downtown Everett. Before getting out, he threatened the student that if she left he would find and kill her since he knew her license plate number. The student was afraid and remained in the parked vehicle.
