    1. 1 dead, another wounded in shooting outside NW Houston apartments KHOU.com HOUSTON - One male was killed and another was wounded during a shooting outside a northwest Houston apartment complex overnight. According to the Houston Police Department, it happened at 11:30 p.m. 
    2. Connecticut House Explosion Injures 7, Sends Debris Flying ABC News -Investigators are trying to determine what caused a house to explode in Connecticut, injuring seven people, including four children, and sending debris flying. Police, fire and rescue crews responded to the home in Vernon on Thursday afternoon. 
    3. EX-LAPD CIVILIAN VOLUNTEER ACCUSED IN STEPSON'S STABBING DEATH IN SIMI VALLEY  incident started with a family dispute between Howard Novak and his 28-year-old stepson Kelly Hughes in a home on N. Hietter Avenue near Diller Court.  The homicide was reported around 11:25 p.m. Thursday. Police said Novack's mother was inside the home at the time of the incident. Investigators said all three lived in the home together.

Stabbings that killed US woman in London not terrorism, police say  CBS News  He allegedly said he was walking around, found the knife and began stabbing people, apparently thinking they were following him, the source said.  Darlene Horton, 64, was hours away from returning home to Tallahassee, Florida, with her husband when she was killed on Wednesday night.

Edwards said they believe that the grandmother was mentally disturbed, and said she may have been schizophrenic and may have been off her medication.  woman allegedly attacked her three grandchildren with a knife and a large knife sharpener before setting her house on fire Wednesday morning. Two of the children died Wednesday, and one was found alive in the trunk of a car. The grandma identified as Jacqueline Sanders, 54, died Thursday morning at the hospital of smoke inhalation.
