September 17, 2014 Suicide bombers kill 15 at north Nigerian college Police and emergency officials say two suicide bombers killed at least 15 students while they were in lectures at a government college in Nigeria's northern city of Kano, 34 students suffered various injuries, the bombers also died. Boko Haram is blamed, as well as for five suicide bombings carried out in one week in July in Kano.

After receiving a report of a stolen 1987 Corvette on Wednesday, an officer spotted the stolen car in the area around 18th Avenue that night and a police chase began.

Fernandez wanted to keep both the car and the money—about $30,000—and at some point he killed Alkadi using a knife. disappeared Sept. 17 from his home near the CSUN campus Alkadi was a 23-year-old engineering student at CSUN who had been missing for a month, before police found his body.   1. 700 killed September 10, 2014 Human traffickers ram migrant boat killing as many as 500 About 500 Syrians, Palestinians, Egyptians and Sudanese are feared dead after their boat was rammed and sunk off the Malta coast last week, the IOM, an inter-governmental organization with 156 member countries, said Monday. Another 200 are feared dead in the wreck of a second boat that was carrying at least 250 African migrants to Europe when it capsized off the Libyan coast. Their boat was overtaken by human traffickers equipped with two vessels. The traffickers rammed the boat carrying the migrants with one of their vessels. The two survivors, both Palestinians, said there had been a violent confrontation between the migrants and the traffickers when the traffickers tried to move the migrants onto a smaller boat as they "used one boat to knock the other". There were only nine known survivors in all. (Was the object to kidnap, or simply to kill hundreds in a tragedy worse than downing an airliner?)
  2. 1 killed 1 arrested September 11, 2014 Joseph Oberhansley arrested for stabbing and  killing ex-girlfriend, eating her brain He also ate portions of her heart and lungs By Rick Couri and KRMG JEFFERSONVILLE, In — Tammy Jo Blanton bailed her former boyfriend, Joseph Oberhansley, out of jail.  His repayment was killing her, and eating part of her brain. The corpse was also missing part of the heart and lungs. Oberhansley was arrested last week and charged with abuse of a corpse, murder, and breaking and entering.  Raw Story reports Oberhansley admitted cooking and eating part of the missing organs... he was convicted of manslaughter in Utah when he was a teenager. After killing his girlfriend, he shot himself in the head. The bullet ripped through part of his brain's frontal lobe, causing irreparable damage.  He was also arrested after choking a man while naked, and leading police on a chase near Louisville   nydailynews  Joseph Oberhansley, 33, is accused of trying to force his way into 46-year-old Tammy Jo Blanton's Jeffersonville home at 3 a.m. Thursday. Cops were called and he left the scene. But he then allegedly returned to the home to carry out the brutal crime. rawstory: Oberhansley was released from a Utah prison on parole in 2012 and arrested again a year later in Indiana for choking another bar patron. Police said he was naked during that attack and resisted arrest... arrested in July after leading Jeffersonville police on a slow-speed chase across the Ohio River into Louisville.

September 12, 2014 Suspect Kyle Facchin in multiple home burglaries arrested after latest break-in Facchin, 30, was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of residential burglary, resisting arrest, impersonating another person and narcotics possession, according to the sheriff's office. 2 Investigates uncovered Facchin's history also includes a conviction for a 2011 bank robbery in South Lake Tahoe. Police said Facchin was found with $5,000 as well as a handgun and prescription drugs. Prosecutors say Facchin pleaded guilty to the robbery and spent about six months in jail.  He was later released to a residential substance abuse treatment program and placed on probation.

It was still burning Sunday evening very close to homes and businesses.Fire investigators are quite sure it was started Saturday night by a person or a group, up on a hillside about a half mile from downtown. Residents suspected carelessness, but nobody speculated it could have been a terrorist attack. On Monday, another fire starting near a town destroyed much of Weed California.

  8. September 15, 2014 Suspect shot in attempted robbery at Lakewood bank KIRO TV an oddly disguised man appeared to be waiting for an approaching armored car, possibly to rob it. Another armored car employee already inside the bank went to confront the man. At that point, say Lakewood police, the man pulled weapon and the armored car guard opened fire. (sounds like the Seattle Hollywood bank robber)
