May 20, 2014 1 killed, Florida Crossing Guard Killed By Cadillac Man With 17 Arrests WTSPIn Clearwater, Florida 70 year old former policeman crossing guard Doug Carey is killed and the 2 girl passengers of the suspect were hospitalized when an African America man driving a brand new $45,000 Cadillac XTS rented by his sister in an arrangement common for drug dealers, ran a red light and was hit another car, spinning out and hitting the man standing by a pole. Suspect abandoned his 4 yr old daughter who was ejected on the street, gave another 2 year old daughter to a stranger and fled the scene before he was quickly caught. Suspect Julious Johnson ran because he had a suspended licence.
He has a long criminal history with 17 prior mostly traffic arrests. Johnson had 12 prior felonies, most recently for sale and possession of cocaine in 2011. Johnson served 22 months in prison for the offense, and was released in June, 2013. Johnson reportedly admitted to driving the vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot due to having a suspended driver's license. He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, leaving the scene of a crash with serious injury, driving with a license suspended or revoked resulting in death, driving with a license suspended or revoked resulting in serious injury, two charges of aggravated child neglect, resisting arrest without violence and possession of marijuana as well as posession of marijuana.

Johnson accelerated through the intersection to avoid the red light. Clark’s Honda struck the rear of the Cadillac, causing it to leave the roadway, striking Carey. Johnson fled the scene on foot. A Clearwater Police officer located Johnson in the 300 block of Gunn Avenue and took him into custody.
The Pinellas Medical Examiner's Office and the Pinellas State Attorney responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The next of kin was notified.
After being read his Miranda rights, Johnson reportedly admitted to driving the vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot due to having a suspended driver's license.
