March 5, 2014 Woman Tormented By Demons Drives Minivan With Children Into Daytona Beach 32-year-old Ebony Wilkerson, of South Carolina drove her new Honda Odyssey minivan into the surf with her 3 children screaming "she's trying to kill us" as they were rescued by lifeguards. Her family thought she was acting odd when she left home with her children talking about Jesus and demons in  the house. Police stopped her after he sister called 911 but found her "lucid, aware of her surroundings, able to care for herself and her children, and showed no signs of meeting the requirements of the Baker Act," a Florida mental health care act permitting involuntary examination, so  they let her on her way. She later told police she was taking her children to a safe place away from her ex-husband who she feared would track them down and harm them.

Family members told police that 32-year-old Ebony Wilkerson, of South Carolina, was acting strange about two hours before driving the van into the ocean."She's talking about Jesus, that there's demons in the house," said her sister. "She's got the kids in the car with her." Wilkerson's sister told police she didn't think her sister would harm her children, but that she was "acting odd."

November 2013 Marion Guerrido, 23 who lacked a valid licence and was only driving with a learning permit crashed her 1998 Pontiac Grand Am into a St. Louis Park Minnesota pond by the road, killing 2 of 5 children she was carrying, and the other 3 were clinging to life Guerrido escaped, leaving the children trapped until emergency workers pulled the car out of the water. The case was forwarded to the forwarded to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, but no charges were filed in the case.

    The Chappaquiddick incident occurred on July 18, 1969, in which Mary Jo Kopechne, a female passenger of U.S. Senator Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy, was killed when he accidentally drove his car off a bridge and into a tidal channel on Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts. Kennedy swam free and left the scene, not reporting about the accident within nine hours, but Kopechne died in the vehicle.
