Korean Man Attacked By White Man Upset About Japanese

Korean Man Attacked By White Man Upset About Japanese
Asian Victims of Accidents And Crime | Bias Attack

October 26, 2013 A Korean man Jae Kang Lee was beaten by a white male Dion Packard of Arlington who slammed his head against a bus stop pole, kicked him after he collapsed and appeared to be about to throw him onto traffic. He was stopped by bystanders, but then shouted "Why are you helping him? Don't you know this man's Japanese? Don't you know what we did for them in Vietnam?" The suspect was charged with malicious harassment and assault. He appeared to be unstable and was taken to a hospital where he was quoted as saying, "I beat him up to keep the white people safe."

Perhaps this was fake bias attack. No evidence of prior anti-Asian bias, or similar anti-Asian incidents. Rather there are are number similar incidents targeting all different kinds of people, including whites attacking blacks, blacks attacking white, youths attacking musician: Tuba man, Delbert "Shorty" Belton, Tuba Man, Molly Conley, Phillipa Evans-Lopez was found stabbed to death at a home in Lake Stevens.

The other day one of the local TV stations led the evening news with a story, “Hate crime in Shoreline.” What happened was that some drunk and/or mentally ill white person attacked a Korean man at a bus stop while shouting things about Japanese and Vietnamese. In other words, the assailant was an incoherent wreck, representative of nobody. The injuries to the Korean man were described is “minor.” Without intending to minimize the incident (which actually happened a week earlier), I still do not think it was the top story of the day, the day before the election. But any white-on-minority crime tickles the fancy of the media and rises to the top of the news cycle.

Cordelia Packard knew the day might eventually come.
For the past two years, she says she's watched her 21-year-old, Dion Packard, dissolving into his own world. He is schizophrenic. It started with his roommates saying he was acting "weird."  Then, we he moved back home, it progressed to hours upon hours spent running his hands along his closet door.
Eventually, he seemed to internalize the battles he waged through video games.  And for the past few months, he'd taken to walking his parents' property, out "on watch."  Sometimes he was armed with a stick.  Once he got a hold of a hunting knife.  When his mom tried to take it from him, he threatened her.

so troubled by his behavior, she had him committed to Fairfax Hospital in Kirkland. On Oct. 23, they discharged him. Packard says they told her they could not hold him any longer against his will. - See more at: http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/hate-crime-suspects-mother-speaks-out/nbhf5/#sthash.RswjJJMX.dpuf
paperwork from his release.  It includes directions for Dion, explaining how he can calm himself down if he feels like he is losing control.  On the line where he was supposed to sign it, it says only "patient refuses to sign."  - See more at: http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/hate-crime-suspects-mother-speaks-out/nbhf5/#sthash.RswjJJMX.dpuf

Korean Man Attacked In Shoreline Because of Race
A Korean man, Jae Kang Lee, was beaten and dragged into busy Ballinger Way in Shoreline on October 26. Police said the only motivation for the attack appeared to be the victim's race. They arrested Dion Packard of Arlington and charged him with malicious harassment and assault. Eyewitnesses said the ...

looked to me like he was going to actually throw him into the oncoming traffic." Alford ran out onto the street, waved his arms and said "stop, stop." Two other bystanders joined him to stop the beating and that's when the attacker started to protest. According to Alford, he said, "Why are you helping him? Don't you know this man's Japanese? Don't you know what we did for them in Vietnam?"
Alford said it was totally crazy talk like that that really made no sense. Packard appeared to be either high on something or mentally ill. They took him to a hospital where he was quoted as saying, "I beat him up to keep the white people safe."
