Drunk driver flees police, wrong-way head on crashes into truck

Monday October 21, 2013 Drunk driver 55-year-old Eric J. Breum of Skykomish flees police in his 1992 Chevrolet pickup, and then crosses center line in a head on crash into truck of 86-year-old Edmonds man tried to avoid arrest for drunken driving and wound up dead, injured an 86-year-old driver and two Snohomish County sheriff's deputies. The suspect crossed the center lane and hit the white truck head on, and then spun around and hit a guardrail. One squad car hit the suspect, then the other squad car slammed into both vehicles. The suspect driver died at the scene.

    McKnight was driving his 2001 Dodge Ram pickup westbound onHighway 2 when he was struck by a 1992 Chevrolet pickup driven by 55-year-old Eric J. Breum of Skykomish. Breum, who was being pursued by Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.
