Man Sets Himself On Fire on National Mall The day after Miriam Carey gets shot after driving like she and her child are filming a terrorist movie, a man later identified as John Constantino, 64, of Mount Laurel, evidently African American himself on fire at the National Mall at 4:30 in the afternoon after dousing himself with gasoline. He died the next day in a hospital. One witness says an accomplice filmed the entire ordeal, but that video never surfaced. According to his family, John was “a loving father and husband.” but his death was “not a political act or statement, but the result of his long battle with mental illness.” Time's Joe Klein noted it as a "whiff of the apocalypse", blaming it on the "radical nihilist minority of the GOP's craven leadership" calling the "radicals" a "pestilence feeding on ignorance and cynicism".
