March 29, 2017 Erratic Pickup Driver Crashes Head On Into Texas Church Bus crash: head-on, texting, drugs terror: no evidence killed: 13 injured: 1 suspect: charged details: In southwest Texas near Garner State Park, an erratic driver  Jack Dillon Young of a heavy duty Ford pickup truck apologized after he was captured on video driving for miles switching back and forth onto the wrong way side of the road before crashing head-on into a van based church bus returning from a retreat, killing 13. The errant driver claimed he had been texting, and had taken two pills of Clonazepam which made him him drowsy and generic forms of prescription drugs Ambien and Lexapro, and police found  two intact marijuana cigarettes in the center console of Young’s truck in addition to five partially smoked joints.  On October 16, 2018 the NTSB concluded that use of marijuana and a sedative led to the crash as toxicology tests found the drugs in his blood stream. Young told NTSB officials that he had taken twice the prescribed dosage of the sedative before the wreck. He also stated he was using his cellphone but that wouldn't have caused such prolonged erratic driving. He pleaded no contest to intoxication assault and 13 counts of intoxication manslaughter, and could be sentenced to up to 270 years in prison (1) Authorities found no evidence of deliberate intent, nor any connection to terrorism as the apparently accidental crash killed more people than the terrorist attack in London the previous week.
