Feb. 21, 2015 arrest Syria Al Nusra Rebels Recruited Ohio Somali Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud to Attack America Somali-born Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud is a naturalized American citizen whose brother left for Syria in 2013 and killed fighting for the Al Qaeda affiliated Al Nursa front rebels Someone gave him a ticket to leave the U.S. in April 2014 "for the purpose of training and fighting with terrorists in Syria". He followed insruction to skip the scheduled flight from Istanbul to Athens and completed secret "pre-arranged plans to travel to Syria," where he got training in firing weapons, breaking into houses, explosives, and hand-to-hand combat. Upon returning June 2014, he told a witness that he was "instructed by a cleric in the organization to return to the United States and commit an act of terrorism". He was to target "armed forces, police officers, or any uniformed individuals."...."he wanted to go to a military base in Texas and kill three or four Americans execution style," He was arrested and detained on state charges on Feb. 21, 2015 and will be transferred to federal custody.
