Al-Nusra Front Syria Terrorist Rebels --- ===

The original sunni Syrian rebels sent to topple the Iran shia-backed Syrian government was Al-Nusra, which was founded at the start of the Syrian civil war in 2011 as Syrian division of the Al Qaeda offshoot Islamic State founded in Iraq. Most of the Americans who traveled to join the jihad against Assad sought to join either Al Nusra or ISIS The United States supports Syrian rebels, but considers Al-Nusra to be terrorists, and has not declared war on Al-Nusra even though they once stated they were part of Al Qaeda. Al Nusra was founded in 2011 as the Syrian division of IS, later ISIS In 2014 Al Nusra enaged in direct warfare against the US when they recruited, flew out and  and trained Ohio Somali Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud to return to commit terrorist attacks on America before he was arrested.

In May 2015, Musleh purchased a one-way ticket from Chicago to Istanbul, Turkey. The credit card used to book the flight was declined and he didn't take the flight. In June 2015, he booked at least three separate one-way tickets from Chicago to Istanbul, Turkey. He arrived at the airport on June 23, 2015, and obtained his boarding pass. He was interviewed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. He told them he was traveling to Istanbul to see family and friends.  A short time later, he said he was traveling to get married and would be meeting his fiancee and her family upon arrival. FBI investigators were not aware of any family or friends he had in Turk ey. Investigators did learn the alleged fiancee is an ISIS sympathizer who resided in Sweden. April 12, 2015, Brownsburg police investigated an incident in Williams Park after a report of juveniles being asked if they wanted to join Daesh, another term for ISIS. September 2014 Ali Shukri Amin began radicalizing fellow Virginian Reza Niknejad, to which he admitted in his plea agreement. Niknejad traveled to Syria on January 14, 2015. Amin accompanied Niknejad to the airport and put him in contact with unnamed ISIS militants with whom he had formed connections over social media.

On 8 April 2013  ISIS leader al-Baghdadi announced that the al-Nusra Front had been established, financed, and supported by the Islamic State of Iraq, and that the two groups were merging under the name "Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham". or  reunification of the Syrian al-Nusra Front with ISI to form the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL). However, Abu Mohammad al-Julani and Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leaders of al-Nusra and al-Qaeda respectively, rejected the merger. Proposed merges with al-Nusra Front to form the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL)April 2013 by al-Baghdadi, was however rejected by al-Nusra leader al-Julani, and by al-Qaeda leader al-Zawahiri who subsequently cut all ties with ISIL, in February 2014.
