The "Family Court attacks" were a series of shootings and bombings in New South Wales, Australia from 1980 to 1985. They were mostly targeted at judges, and other people, associated with the Family Court of Australia. In the attacks 2 people were shot dead, including Family Court judge David Opas in June 1980, and later the same year Stephen Blanchard was shot dead.[1]

Another 2 people were killed by bombs. These were Pearl Watson, the wife of judge Ray Watson, who is believed to have been the target but was only injured, and Graham Wykes, a Jehovah's Witness minister who was killed, and another 13 people injured when their Casula hall was bombed in 1985. Judge Richard Gee was also injured by a bomb in 1984.[1]and the Parramatta Courthouse was bombed in April 1984, without any injuries.[2]

In 1985 a bomb was found in Northmead under the bonnet of a car.[2]

The attacks were considered an unsolved mystery of Australian crime.[citation needed] In 1984 a A$500,000 reward was offered for information about the attacks.[1] In 2012 the State Crime Command's homicide squad restarted an investigation into the crimes.[1]
