  1. 1 injured, suspect escaped December 17, 2014 School Lockdown Lifted After Clerk Shot in apparent Robbery at El Cajon Motel NBC 7 San Diego An armed robber in a "Joker" mask shot an El Cajon motel clerk before running into the neighborhood, prompting a temporary high school lockdown suspect reportedly held up the Quality Inn and Suites .Armed with a shotgun, police say the suspect who had rented a room demanded money from the clerk. The 31-year-old man asked the gunman not to shoot and tried to run into the back office. But before he could escape, the suspect fired one round, hitting the victim in the lower back, according to officials. The suspect then took off empty-handed on foot. Alternative theory- doesn't make sense unless it was a cover story for shooting a random American.

He fled, backed his car away from the shooter and drove up to a highway construction crew that called 911. The shooter fled. I did not know him."  He recovered and returned to work, gunman was never found.
