- October 17, 2014 False Report Mankato MN Marathon Terrorist Bomb Threat After Autograph RequestMankato - 56-year-old Brian Mechler of North Mankato was arrested Oct. 18 for terroristic threat after he claimed he received bomb threat for sunday' marathon, and faces felony charges of terrorism and the other for making terroristic threats with reckless disregard.. Previously the Mechler had asked to invite runners to an autograph session but threatened legal action after he was denied. Later, people reported getting threatening emails from Mechler and on Friday night 16, Nicollet County Sheriff's Office got a 911 call from Mechler who indicated he had received an anonymous call from someone claiming to have placed four bombs along the route. He could get up to 12 and a half years in prison. Mechler, who shows one eye permanently shut has a history of making threats to police officers and attorneys.
