June 1, 2014 Syrian Jihad Connections in Brussels Jewish Museum Shooting Arrest In Paris, French authorities arrested a man in the killing of three people last month at the Jewish Museum in Brussels. The suspect was Mehdi Nemmouche who was caught during a routine customs when he was found with an assault rifle and revolver matching descriptions of those used in the assault. The suspect is a 29-year-old Frenchman with a long criminal history arrested for driving without a licence and violent robbery, and serving jail many times since 2001 where he became a radicalized jihadist during his last five-year stay. He had traveled to Syria last year to join with radical Islamist fighters there. French and Belgian officials found evidence linking Mr. Nemmouche to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or I.S.I.S., a jihadist group operating in Syria that until earlier this year maintained ties to Al Qaeda.
