  1. 2 dead, 1 wounded March 3, 2014 Phoenix Police Officers Killed and Wounded in Gun Battle With Fugitive One Phoenix police officer was killed and another critically wounded in a gun battle with a fugitive. The suspect crashed into into several cars, injuring two before fleeing around a building, and shooting at officers, when he was killed by return fire.

Darrin Terrell Eskew, a former student and Patton, had gotten into a physical altercation, and he strangled her and set her and the motel room on fire. Eskew stole Patton’s vehicle, and was pulled over for driving 30 on the interstate in a 70 mph zone, where he fought with the deputy and had to be tasered and taken into custody Berea Middle School teacher Laurie Patton, 38,  was found dead after an explosion and fire at a hotel.
