TSA Agent Killed, Gunman Shot at LAX Airport November 1, 2013 At Los Angeles International Airport, a gunman later identified as Paul Anthony Ciancia in military-like camouflage with AR-15 style 5.56mm rifle walked up to a TSA checkpoint and shot a TSA agent who died. There were multiple casualties as at least one other officer was wounded. The suspect was wounded and taken into custody, and told police that he acted alone. Authorities have not ruled it, nor excluded the possibility of a terrorist incident, others said they were still determining motives as the shooter was not tied to a known group. The shooter had sent rambling angry text that sounded like he was going to commit suicide to his relatives who called police to find he was not home and evidently left just before the shooting spree. He had told his roommates to expect that he would need a trip to the airport, and eventually demanded that he be driven there before the attack. He had walked up to people as he approached the checkpoint asking if they were with the TSA, and carried a note that he intended to cause harm towards "TSA and pigs [police]", and was concerned about the New World Order and anti-government conspiracy theories. This is similar to the "freemason" conspiracy theories cited by a man who stabbed a choir at church, and a woman who had to removed from congress, and "ELF" and electronic voices. Ciancia was a 23-year-old Italian Catholic school graduate and son of a popular Fraternal Order of Police member back in New Jersey where he grew up..

"It's almost like an open shopping mall," he said.

UPDATE – Shooter Not TSA; LAX Shooting: TSA Agent Killed, Other Shot in Leg; FLASHBACK: Homeland Security Trained TSA Agents for Mass Shootings

**** UPDATE: We now know that the LAX Shooter is NOT connected to the TSA, as media reports had previously reported. We know he’s a 23-year-old. So, why did he do it? Just another “crazy”? Remember that the Al-Qaeda handbook instructs jihadists to recruit crazies and other mental defectives so that their acts can be pawned off as “just the acts of another crazy person.” Was that the case here? Seems like an awful lotta “crazy” people shooting up Naval bases, major airports, and the White House area, recently. ****

I think Debbie’s point about Muslim cultivation of crazies is spot on. Not only do we “suddenly” have a upswing in crazies, but they seem to be directed to targets that are suspiciously consistent with jihad.
There’s an additional possibility that the very attempts of politicians to have massive Muslim inflows and simultaneously to try to avoid the usual consequences has created a situation that encourages crazies.
Indeed, it’s possible that even without explicit recruitment crazies form agendas based on Muslim-attacks.
So many possibilities, all of which could be working simultaneously

  1. The LAX Airport Shooter is a Terrorist

    www.theislamicmonthly.com/the-lax-airport-shooter-is-a-terrorist
Nov 02, 2013 · Your pretend war and romantic notions ... yes he is a terrorist. this is no double standard ..
If that hypothetical [muslim as terrorist] scenario did ever occur, do you think that the vast majority of Americans would have any problem at all labeling the aforementioned situation an act of “terrorism”?
But in reality, it was a 23-year-old white man named Paul Anthony Ciancia who took his anti-government political ideology clearly into the realm of ‘terrorism’... has “strong anti-government views,” according to a report from NBC News reporter Pete Williams. This assessment was determined by the “anti-government materials” in his possession when he was captured. Furthermore, the Associated Press also reported that Mr. Ciancia, who was dressed in military-style fatigues during the terrorist attack, carried a handwritten note that said he “wanted to kill TSA [agents] and pigs [aka police].”
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), the language and references that Paul Anthony Ciancia used in his writings seemed to put him “squarely in the conspiracy-minded world of the antigovernment ‘Patriot’ movement” with references to the longstanding New World Order conspiracy theory. According to the SPLC, these so-called Patriots also “increasingly see the DHS, which produces intelligence assessments of extremists that are distributed to other law enforcement agencies, as an enemy and even a collaborator in the New World Order conspiracy.”
Now, the same right-wingers who would shout “terrorism” from the rooftops if the LAX airport shooter was a Muslim will likely avoid using the word “terrorism” at all since the shooter was a white Italian dude from Jersey. They will characterize this non-Muslim terrorist as a crazy kooky loner whose undiagnosed mental-health issues or work-related stress probably led to the attacks.

Ciancia began asking for a ride to the airport days before the shooting. He claimed he needed to fly to New Jersey to help his sick father, but he never said what day he needed to leave, the source said.
On Friday, Ciancia burst into a roommate's room and demanded a ride to the airport immediately, said the source, who spoke to CNN on the condition of anonymity.
The roommate obliged. Investigators don't think the roommate had any idea of Ciancia's plans.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/11/04/why-the-lax-shooter-should-be-charged-as-a-terrorist.html

Why the LAX Shooter Should Be Charged as a Terrorist

According to court documents, the alleged LAX shooter was trying to influence government policy with violence. So, why isn’t he being charged with terrorism?

“domestic terrorism" is defined as an act that violates State or Federal law (for example, murder) and the action must “appear to be intended to:

(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping.

The handwritten note allegedly carried by Ciancia, according to law enforcement, makes it plain that his goal was to “affect the conduct of government by “ killing TSA employees.  Ciancia was an angry patriot who apparently felt that TSA officers were treading on the constitutional rights of Americans.
why wasn’t Major Nidal Hassan, who was convicted of killing 13 people and injuring more than 40 at Fort Hood, charged with "terrorism"? Well it's the same reason why Sergeant Robert Bales, who killed 17 Afghanis, including women and children, many in their bed, and then gruesomely burned some of their bodies, wasn’t charged with an act of terrorism. Both those cases were within the exclusive purview of the military since Bales and Hassan were active duty servicemen and terrorism is currently not a charge under Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Update: NBC says it knows who the gunman is and that he may have been motivated by “anti-government views” based on written material he was carrying. What that means exactly, I don’t know, but the left has been waiting two and a half years, since the story behind the Tucson shooting fell apart on them, to try its “conservatism equals murderous insanity” narrative again. We’ll see what the “materials” say.
The gunman, identified by law-enforcement officials as 23-year-old Paul Anthony Ciancia, was shot by law enforcement and taken into custody in critical condition. The motive is not clear but it’s believed he had anti-government views based on written materials he was carrying, the officials said.
Federal officials told NBC News it was unclear whether Ciancia was targeting the TSA or was trying to shoot his way through to get further into the airport. But one witness said the shooter, who calmly walking through the terminal with his weapon, approached him with a one-word question.
“All he said was, ‘TSA?’ Just like that,” Leon Saryan told MSNBC.

Shots fired at LAX -- UPDATE: Had Rifle, In Custody, 1 TSA Agent Dead

The Los Angeles International Airport shooter "pulled an assault rifle out of a bag and began to open fire in" Terminal 3 on Friday morning, airport police Chief Patrick Gannon told reporters....
A TSA agent shot Friday at the Los Angeles International Airport is dead, according to an intelligence source briefed by Los Angeles police and a federal source....
The shooter walked to the security checkpoint, pulled out a concealed assault rifle and shot the TSA agent; the shooter then went through the checkpoint, and a police officer shot the shooter.
So, the shooter killed a TSA agent with a rifle -- that they're calling an "assault" rifle, but the normal media rule applies here that no one in the media knows what an assault rifle looks like so they're all "assault rifles" to them -- was himself shot by a police officer on duty, but the Times is also reporting that a third victim was checked into the hospital.
Reports are that the suspect is in custody.
UPDATE: Make that one dead and three at the hospital. I just saw the presser on the local Fox affiliate.
The newsies are reporting that it was an "AK-47 type assault weapon", but a guy who was standing near the perp as he opened fire claims he didn't hear the rifle shot, and the guy claims he's a hunter heading back to Canada.
Over at Hot Air, AP has some photos of what looks like a rifle on the ground, and it doesn't look like an "AK type" of rifle to me. Maybe an AR lookalike chambered in a .22? That would explain why it didn't make that much noise.
    Here it is.
    rifle at lax shooting.JPG
I don't know how tall that cop is, so hard to gain perspective on the rifle's size, but it looks about right for all those AR lookalikes you see at WalMart (outside of CA, of course). Most of them are .22s. Just a guess until we have something more than that.

said the gunman entered Terminal 3 at 9:20 a.m. He pulled an assault rifle out of his bag and began firing. He moved into the screening area and continued shooting, Gannon said. He got past the checkpoint area and moved further into the terminal. Authorities tracked him down and shot him near a Burger King.
Updated at 1 p.m.: The Times earlier reported that the suspect was dead. But sources have since told the paper he is in criitical condition.]
The motive was unclear. A federal law enforcement official said that the gunman was a ticketed passenger entering the airport.

    early report http://www.catholic.org/national/national_story.php?id=52992&wf=rsscol
No motive or other details have been released. The attack does not appear to be terrorist related at this time and no terror alert has been issued.

approached a checkpoint at Terminal 3 at 9:30 a.m. and began shooting at the TSA agent

A former Los Angeles Police Department ranking officer gave this account of Friday morning's shooting, citing discussions with investigators: The shooter walked to the security checkpoint, pulled out a concealed assault rifle and shot the TSA agent; the shooter then went through the checkpoint, and a police officer shot the shooter. The source arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.
    [Previous update, 2:30 p.m.]
(CNN) -- A gunman concealing an assault rifle walked up to a Los Angeles International Airport checkpoint and opened fire on a TSA agent Friday morning, but when the gunman passed the security point, he was shot and wounded by a police officer, a former ranking Los Angeles Police Department officer who was at the scene told CNN.
The gunfire sent travelers into a stampede, passengers said.
A total of 10 shots were fired, and two people -- the gunman and the Transportation Security Administration agent

gunman was a Transportation Security Administration employee at LAX. The gunman was killed by authorities after he opened fire Friday morning. He allegedly shot and killed a fellow TSA employee.

American can count on the Department of Homeland Security to make sure this incident is not classified as terrorism. There has only been one incident of terrorism in the US in 2013, the Boston Marathon. All of the mass murders, school shootings and stabbings and unexplained fertilizer explosions don't count. Oh yeah, Fort Hood didn't count either.
