August 7, 2019 August 2019 Orange County Stabbing Spree 33-year-old man accused of stabbing four people to death in a rampage across two Orange County cities. Detectives not sure of motive why Zachary Castaneda allegedly went on the attack on Wednesday, saying that the violence appears to be random and that he didn't know those he targeted. Suspect is a known gang member with a criminal record dating back to 2004. Suspect and all victims are Hispanic. The next day there is a stabbing of two women, killing one in Pittsburgh.

The 2019 California stabbing rampage was a 2-hour rampage of deadly stabbings and robberies in Orange County, Southern California on August 7, 2019 that killed 4 and wounded two. Suspect is in custody. Suspect and all victims are Hispanic. None of the victims was previously acquainted with the killer.

Suspect attacked people at 7 separate locations in a two hour killing spree.[1][2]
Rampage began on August 7 at about 4pm when suspect attempted to rob a bakery in Garden Grove, California.[2][3]
He next moved to an apartment complex about 17 miles south of Anaheim, where two men were stabbed to death. One died at the scene and one was taken hospital where he was pronounced dead.[3] Suspect lived in the apartment complex where the murders took place.[4]
He next attempted to rob a check-cashing business and, next an insurance agency; a woman at the insurance agency was stabbed multiple times.[3]
The next attack was an attempt to rob a Chevron gas station where the victim"s nose was almost completely severed.[3]
Suspect stabbed a person to death in the parking lot of a Subway sandwich shop Santa Ana.[3]
The 33-year-old suspect, a Hispanic man from Garden Grove, California, was taken into custody as he emerged from a 7-Eleven in Santa Ana, southeast of Los Angeles.[5] He dropped a knife along with a handgun that he had taken from a guard as he emerged from the 7-Eleven.[5][4][6]
Garden Grove Police Department Lt. Carl Whitney Whitney stated that, "Our suspect was not associated with any of our victims" and that suspect and all of the victims were Hispanic.[3][5]
