Money, support for migrant ‘caravans’ flow through Chicago

By Kevin Mooney | The Daily Signal

Advocates of open borders quoted in media coverage of the migrant “caravan” moving north through Mexico are part of a network of U.S.-based groups funded in the past by left-leaning foundations, according to tax and financial records.

Pueblo Sin Fronteras, a Chicago-based nonprofit whose name means People Without Borders, is widely credited with organizing the caravans of migrants that traveled from Central America on trains and buses and on foot this year and last.

Two United Methodist churches in Chicago appear to be bases for People Without Borders, which is led by one of the pastors, documents show.

Other open-borders activists affiliated with People Without Borders and participating in the caravan include Rodrigo Abeja, who has been quoted by NBC News, USA Today, The Washington Post, and other news outlets. In statements to the media, Abeja joined other activists in denying that gang members or terrorists have infiltrated the caravan.

The Daily Signal sought comment from Alex Mensing, listed as a U.S. contact for People Without Borders. At publication time, Mensing had not responded.

In a voicemail, The Daily Signal asked Mensing how the group could say it has no organizational role, since several of its activists are taking part, as well as how open-borders advocates could be certain that criminal elements are not included in the caravans.

Pueblo Sin Fronteras, or People Without Borders, is an extension of another nonprofit advocacy group called La Familia Latina Unida, or the United Latin Family, which advocates on behalf of illegal aliens, according to Influence Watch, a recent project of the Capital Research Center.

Tax records and other public documents show the organizations share the same Chicago address and some staff members. That address, 2176 W. Division St. in Chicago, also is the address of the 13-year-old Adalberto Memorial United Methodist Church.

comments:  Here we go. An article to try and pull at the heart strings. How about doing some reporting on who’s behind this staged exodus?
We see through you.

I don’t believe Mexico has any of the issues these people are fleeing. Why continue this staged “arduous” trek any longer. Jus stay in Mexico.
Who’s behind this staged exodus?
They’re moving impossibly fast to have bloody feet, etc.
Gee, it almost seems like someone is baying to bus this huge caravan up to the USA. It’s impossible to cover the ground they have on foot and with children in such a short period of time.
This is staged and someone is behind it. Where is the true reporting on this?
This article is absolute bull spit.
We see through you.
"...slowly trekking to the United States..."

Do people actually believe these invaders are "trekking?" Do you know how far it is from Tapachula to Tijuana? TWENTY-FOUR-HUNDRED MILES. Who is paying for the innumerable buses (or whatever) needed to transport such a mass of humanity?

The fake news media never mentions this and consistently posts pictures of a mass of people MARCHING, purposely leaving the impression that they’re walking all the way from the border of Guatemala, through Mexico, to the U.S. That’s greater than the distance from San Francisco to ChicagoLess

If their situations are so bad why did they have children? I certainly wouldn’t want to be born to parents like that.

American children also have dreams. Why not write about the poor American children in inner cities or Appalachia whose dreams are taken away from them because US taxpayer's monies are being diverted to those who come to our country illegally.

From most of the images I’ve seen, the crowd seems to mostly be young men in their 20s and 30s.

Read this people. The msm is lying to you about this caravan.

The newspaper Prensa Libre quoted President Morales saying, during his turn at the lectern of a major regional security conference, that his administration had captured "close to 100 people completely linked to terrorist issues, with ISIS, and that not only have we arrested them within our territory, but they have been deported to their countries of origin."

The Guatemalan president was speaking October 11 during the second Conference for Prosperity and Security in Central America. Senior American officials were in attendance with the vice president, as was Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, El Salvadoran Vice President Oscar Ortiz, Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Luis Videgaray, and Mexican Secretary of Governance Alfonso Navarrete, among others.

subject line read: "Cross-Border Movement of Special Interest Aliens".

What followed were orders, unusual in the sense that they demanded the "immediate attention" of the nation's most senior immigration and border security leaders to counter such an obscure terrorism threat.

Secretary Johnson ordered that they form a "multi-DHS Component SIA Joint Action Group" and produce a "consolidated action plan" to take on this newly important threat. He was referring to the smuggling of migrants from Muslim-majority countries, often across the southern land border — a category of smuggled persons likely already known to memo recipients as special interest aliens, or SIAs. Secretary Johnson provided few clues for the apparent urgency, except to state: "As we all appreciate, SIAs may consist of those who are potential national security threats to our homeland. Thus, the need for continued vigilance in this particular area." Elsewhere, the secretary cited "the increased global movement of SIAs."

The unpublicized copy of the memo, obtained by CIS, outlined plan objectives. Intelligence collection and analysis, Secretary Johnson wrote, would drive efforts to "counter the threats posed by the smuggling of SIAs." Coordinated investigations would "bring down organizations involved in the smuggling of SIAs into and within the United States." Border and port of entry operations capacities would "help us identify and interdict SIAs of national security concern who attempt to enter the United States" and "evaluate our border and port of entry security posture to ensure our resources are appropriately aligned to address trends in the migration of SIAs."
