By Martha Spalding - 01/08/2018
Unlike the TV and Hollywood versions of ‘Murder She Wrote’, the case of the mysterious shooting of Samuel Iserbyt in the state of Maine remains unsolved.

What really happened when Samuel Iserbyt, a combat veteran during Gulf War I, and resident of Portland, Maine, was shot and left for dead at his home in Portland, ME?

No one in the public seems to know what happened since, although informed, state and national media will not cover the story, and since the case files have recently been impounded (locked) and thus remain secret.

Samuel Iserbyt’s home is located only one block away from the hospital. However, even though an eye witness reported the shooting to Portland Police, in real time (as it was happening) there was still a 20-minute delay in the police department’s calling for an EMS ambulance, during which Sam lay on the floor in his house bleeding to death. By the time Sam arrived at Maine Medical, he was in Stage 4 Hypovolemic Shock (massive blood loss) which normally results in death.

Thankfully, a tourniquet applied by a police officer who was first on scene, and speedy and professional work by surgeons and experienced trauma personnel at Maine Medical Center brought Sam back to life. Sam and his family will be grateful forever for their professional expertise and speedy judgment displayed that evening.

It remains a mystery what happened that evening, despite eyewitness reports of seeing a man coming down the street, brandishing a weapon, threatening to kill Sam. Witnesses testified to having seen a man coming down the street, brandishing a gun, and threatening to kill Sam moments before the shooting... The suspect was later interviewed by a detective at Portland Police Headquarters. The detective told the suspect “not to lose too much sleep over this” and then released him onto the “supposedly safe” streets of Portland. Maine.
