1 killed 2 arrested August 20, 2014 New York Violinist Mary Whitaker Murdered by Front Door Intruders   Jonathan Conklin, 43, and Charles Sanford, 30, are being federally charged in connection to the murder of violinist Mary Whitaker in her summer home. They are charged with stealing property, taking it across state lines, carjacking and murdering its owner, and using a firearm during a crime of violence She opened the door to men who said they need to use her phone when they ran out of gas, but was found dead in her garage, and two men were soon arrested with her stolen car in nearby Erie, PA. Officials believe Whitaker was not targeted – as it initially had been suggested – and that her murder was random. Suspects told the judge old the judge they are homeless and have been receiving food stamps.  The victim lived in upper Manhattan with her life partner violinist, Suzanne Gillman. She performed with the Westchester Philharmonic and worked as a freelance violinist in Broadway pit orchestras
