1 killed 1 arrested September 4, 2014 London beheading of Palmira Silva A man is arrested on suspicion of murder after Palmira Silva, 82, is attacked in broad daylight in Edmonton, north London. She was found in Edmonton, north London after police received reports of a 25 year old man dressed in black with a knife running through backyard gardens. Police say they do not believe there is a terrorist motive but have not confirmed if Ms Silva was beheaded. A witness saw a man brandishing a foot long machete attack a passing vehicle and a hack a cat to pieces before roaming back gardens looking for a victim. Two others on the street also escaped an attack later linked to the same suspect. The suspect and an officer was injured as he detained by firearms officers who fired taser stun gun. Police have announced they have concluded that there was no connection to terrorism, and that it was wrong to equate beheadings with muslims.
As details came out, the suspect was identified as Nicholas Salvadore, a 25-year-old would-be cage fighter who is believed to be a Muslim convert, who had been living a few doors away from his victim. Counterjihad blogs cited UK reports by the Daily Mail and Evening Standard that a Nigerian 'Muslim convert' known as Fat Nick as the suspect and suspected a connection to Islamist terrorism.
On the UK Guardian and alarabya.net, UK officials were quick to condemn an observed spike in threats against Muslims and any "automatic" association of beheading with Muslims, and pointed out witnesses had not stated anything that would tie the murder to religion as a motive. The Huffington Post condemned as 'Deliberately Inflammatory' a front page tabloid headline "Muslim convert beheads gran"
At first media made no link to religious violence, but what sort of people usually behead their victims? No connection to beheadings by ISIS or Islamist militants who ran over and beheaded a soldier.

Published: 05 September 2014 Details have begun to emerge about the man arrested for the murder of a great grandmother beheaded in her back garden. He was named locally as Nicholas Salvadore, a 25-year-old would-be cage fighter who is believed to be a Muslim convert, who had been living a few doors from 82-year-old Palmira Silva. Salvadore was under arrest and under armed guard in hospital today after the events in a street in north London yesterday. Detectives say they have ruled out terrorism as a motive.

line of inquiry for detectives is understood to be that the man was inspired by recent footage of terrorists beheading two American journalists in Syria.
Some residents claimed last night that the suspect was a local man who had converted to Islam last year, but those claims could not be verified. Detectives said they had ruled out terrorism.
Scotland Yard said officers they were unaware of the motivation behind the horrific slaying which comes three days after the publication of an ISIS video that showed a British man beheading an American journalist. An off duty British soldier was killed and suffered an attempted beheading during an attack by Islamists on a London street last year.
“Whilst it is too early to speculate on what the motive behind this attack was, I am confident, based on the information currently available to me, that it is not terrorist related,” said detective chief inspector John Sandlin, who is leading the investigation.
