Links Between Crime, Gangs and Terrorism

Links Between Crime, Gangs and Terrorism --- ===

Crimes that look like terrorism are dismissed as gang related, but many gangs are directly connected to terrorists, and could be and have sometimes been recruited to attack domestic targets by terrorist organizations and states like Libya.

Gangs and Terrorism The the Counter Terror Expo in Washington D.C. offered perspectives from prominent experts in the field of counter-terrorism. May 24, 2012 | by Richard Valdemar:  If you've attended any of my law enforcement training in the past few years, you've heard me refer to the "unholy trinity." I borrowed the term from an article in the August 2009 issue of Homeland Security Today to describe the alliance of American street gangs, drug and human trafficking cartels, and international terrorists.
this "unholy trinity." It means that traditional street gangs born in our urban jungles are not just a local problem. Increasingly this American-spawned phenomenon can also be linked to international or transnational gangs and drug trafficking organizations. They are potentially a vicarious surrogate army to be used by international terrorists. To continue to deny that this nexus exists is to ignore valuable clues to the prevention of larger more serious criminal activity and possibly the next 9/11, Mumbai, or Beslan. Shortly after 9/11, as a member of the FBI Los Angeles Multi-Agency Metropolitan Violent Gang Task Force, I pointed out Los Angeles MS-13 leader Nelson Comandari's activities and travel suggested that he was more than just a local gang leader. He had international ties. But the FBI agents only laughed at any suggested narco or terrorist conspiracy involving Los Angeles street gangs and pointed out that young Latino gang members are from a Catholic culture, and that they have little in common with radical Middle Eastern Muslim terrorists.

Jamaat al-Fuqra - Arabic for "community of the impoverished" - founded in the 1980s by Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani, a religious figure from Pakistanirst bombmaker - was Stephen Paul Paster, who converted from Judaism to Islam. Paster was convicted for his role in the 1983 bombing of a Portland, Ore., hotel owned by the Hindu Bhagwan Rajneesh cult from India.  U.S. government claims that al-Fuqra members were involved in 13 bombings and arsons during the 1980s and 1990s and were responsible for at least 17 homicides targeting Indian and mainstream muslims.  many al-Fuqra members have fought in Afghanistan, Kashmir, Lebanon, Bosnia and Chechnya. Clement Hampton-el provided weapons training the Brooklyn Jihad Office and Hampton-el was convicted along with several other men, including Nosair's cousin, Ibrahim Elgabrowny and Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, also known as The Blind Sheikh, in the 1993 New York Bomb Plot Case, and sentenced to serve 35 years.

investigators working on the D.C. sniper case tied convicted killer John Allen Muhammed to al-Fuqra. Rumors also surfaced that "Shoe Bomber" Richard Reid was connected to the group. Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, in fact, was investigating the Reid/al-Fuqra connection and was in the process of attempting to interview Gilani when he was abducted and killed.

Gangs do the Dirty Work

Bloods, and the Black Guerilla Family (BGF), a revolutionary anti-US government prison gang, have shared more than a jail cell together. Bloods street gang members have been recruited by the BGF to sell drugs, commit high-end burglaries and allegedly to commit contract murders. Crips street gangs on the east coast operated as a support cell for suspected PLO members in the United States by stealing mail and other property (credit cards, treasury checks, clothing), and fencing the stolen property at the PLO members convenience store. Most of the proceeds were sold for cash that was body carried overseas to the Middle East.

In New York and Washington DC, a local street gang exists calling themselves the PLO and brag that they are the sons of actual PLO members. They are, however, heavily involved in the smuggling of untaxed cigarettes and other fraudulent activities (credit cards, counterfeit currency) which has been a lucrative funding source for terrorist groups in the US.

In 1986, the leader of El Rukns, Jeff Fort was incarcerated and masterminded a terrorist act against the United States. He and members of his gang planned to purchase anti-aircraft missiles and fire the missiles at passing airliners flying over Chicago in exchange for over 2 million dollars from Moammar Khadafy of Libya. Of course, thanks to local, state and federal law enforcement in Chicagoland, Fort and several members of El Rukns were arrested during the attempted purchase of the missiles. Several members of El Rukns fled to the Middle East and are believed to be living in Libya.

In 2003, Nelson Comandari was arrested at the border returning from El Salvador and extradited to New York where he was prosecuted for a unrelated multiple-kilo cocaine conspiracy. The Rise of Middle Eastern Crime in Australia IT WAS ABOUT 1995 to 1996 that the emergence of Middle Eastern crime groups was first observed in New South Wales. Before then they had been largely known for individual acts of anti-social behaviour and loose family structures involved in heroin importation and supply as well as motor vehicle theft and conversion. The one crime that did appear organised before this period was insurance fraud, usually motor vehicle accidents and arson. Because these crimes were largely victimless, they were dealt with by insurance companies and police involvement was limited. But from these insurance scams, a generation of young criminals emerged to become engaged in more sophisticated crimes, such as extortion, armed robbery, organised narcotics importation and supply, gun running, organised factory and warehouse break-ins, car theft and conversion on a massive scale including the exporting of stolen luxury vehicles to Lebanon and other Middle Eastern countries - See more at: http://1389blog.com/2008/01/29/mideast-gangs-no-go-areas-in-sydney/#sthash.etDZY2Vu.dpuf

impact that this leadership team had on day-to-day operational policing was disastrous. In many of the key areas that were experiencing rapid rises in Middle Eastern crime, these new leaders became more concerned with relations between the police and ethnic minorities than with emerging violent crime. The power and influence of the local religious and minority leaders cannot be overstated. Police began to use selective law enforcement. They selected targets that were unlikely to use their ethnic background and cultural beliefs to hinder police investigations or arrests. It was mostly Anglo-Saxons and Asians that were the targets, because they were under-represented by religious leaders and the media. They were soft targets… - See more at: http://1389blog.com/2008/01/29/mideast-gangs-no-go-areas-in-sydney/#sthash.etDZY2Vu.dpuf

hundreds upon hundreds of incidents police have backed down to Middle Eastern thugs and taken no action and allowed incidents to go unpunished. Again I stress the unbelievable influence that local politicians and religious leaders played in covering up the real state of play in the south-west. - See more at: http://1389blog.com/2008/01/29/mideast-gangs-no-go-areas-in-sydney/#sthash.etDZY2Vu.dpuf

Ryan-inspired OCR had just six crimes. And those six included domestic violence, random breath testing, theft, robbery, assaults and motor vehicle theft — no drugs, organised crime, firearms, shootings, attempted murders, homicides. The crimes that instil fear into the average citizen were ignored, and with plenty of innovative answers as to why. The OCR focused police attention on a limited number of crimes and allowed far more serious and deadly crimes to get out of control…

With no organised crime function, no gang unit except for the South-East Asian Strike Force, the New South Wales Police turned against every convention known to Western policing in dealing with organised crime groups. In effect the Lebanese crime gangs were handed the keys to Sydney.

most influential of the Middle Eastern crime groups are the Muslim males of Telopea Street, Bankstown, known as the Telopea Street Boys. They and their associates have been involved in numerous murders over the past five years, many of them unprovoked fatal attacks on young Australian men for no other reason than that they are “Skips”, as they call Australians. They have been involved in all manner of crime on a scale we have never seen before. Ram-raids on expensive stores in the city are epidemic. The theft of expensive motor vehicles known as car-jacking is increasing at an alarming rate. This crime involves gangs finding a luxury motor vehicle parked outside a restaurant or hotel and watching until the occupants return to drive home. The car is followed, the victims assaulted at gunpoint, and the vehicle stolen. The vehicles are always around or above the $100,000 mark and are believed to be taken to warehouses before being shipped interstate or to the Middle East…

Australia’s racial vilification laws, along with the entire “multiculturalism” industry, worked together to keep the growing debacle concealed from public scrutiny.

Tim Priest explained where this willful blindness would eventually lead:

I wonder whether the inventors of the racial hatred laws introduced during the golden years of multiculturalism ever took into account that we, the silent majority, would be the target of racial violence and hatred. I don’t remember any charges being laid in conjunction with the gang rapes of south-western Sydney in 2001, where race was clearly an issue and race was used to humiliate the victims. But then, unbelievably, a publicly-funded document produced by the Anti-Discrimination Board called “The Race for Headlines” was circulated, and it sought not only to cover up race as a motive for the rapes, but to criticise any accurate media reporting on this matter as racially biased.

Unfortunately, yes, as shown in our other articles about events in Australia. As in the US, the legal system in Australia makes it difficult to curtail enemy jihadist activity. It’s time we all muster the political will to do something about that. See Islamic supremacist, pro-sharia conferences should be banned for more

The cartels, though, are not the only actors in the hemisphere’s drug trade.  Under the late Hugo Chavez, the government of Venezuela supported Colombian cocaine producers, while also opening the country to Iranian influence.  Chavez’ Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA), which included states like Cuba, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Nicaragua, has forged close military ties with Iran.  In 2006, Iranian advisors of the Iranian Republican Guards Corps (IRGC) were embedded in the Venezuelan army.  Along with senior members of the Venezuelan government, the IRGC is involved in the illicit narcotics trade as well, which is consistent with its other function as a quasi-business enterprise.  In support of Iranian foreign policy, the IRGC acts as a flexible, ideologically committed military force that also manages a huge, semi-legitimate business empire in Iran.  The smaller Iranian Quds Force, which has fewer business associations, acts as a special operations force and a covert arm of Iran’s government.
Hostility toward the United States is fundamental to the ideological outlook of Iran’s ruling theocracy, which considers itself at war with the U.S. Employment of the IRGC and Quds Force against America, whether in Iraq (where members of the Quds Force were captured by American troops) or in the Western Hemisphere, where the IRCG and Quds Force participate in anti-US training of local forces and in an illicit drug trade that weakens the United States at home. That Iran has relationships with TCOs with deep ties inside the United States is a fact; the question is what, if anything, the Iranians intend to do with this capability.

Mexican gangs and others, active in the Methamphetamine trade, purchase large quantities of Pseudoephedrine from Middle Eastern suppliers doing business in Canada. Many of these Middle Eastern Pseudoephedrine peddlers have been exposed as members of Hizbollah, a Lebanese terrorist organization. Additionally, much of the Pseudoephedrine supplied by Hizbollah ends up in the hands of Outlaw Biker gangs who run processing labs for Methamphetamine.
