Meanwhile in Malaysia, muslim hardlners are are trying to impose the hudud provisions of Sharia for crimes such as theft, fornication, adultery, alcohol and  apostasy which are at odds with liberal western values.  The leader declared non-muslims have no right to oppose hudud. There are limitation to what they may say, and he does "not see what their contribution is for them to be given so many priviledges in the first place" Indian groups counter that they helped build the nation. UMNO also looked at this plan. Mahathir opposed the plan, but it was said he was not really familiar with it.

ISMA president slams Obama for equality call - Obama in his trip called for equal opportunities for non-muslims, but it was called "handicapped thinking" by Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman, president of what has been called an extremist hardline NGO ISMA. Rahman did not see why Muslims needed to relenquich their religious rights to non-Muslims.

Obama did not have time to meet with Anwar Ibrahim, but Anwar was promised that Susan Rice would meet him personally, establishing ties with Obama which has expressed concerned about Ibrahim's persecution, and support for gay rights.

New report shows that there was a 4 hour delay until the government fully realized the plane was missing and decided to start a search at 5:30 AM. Radar saw the plane as it turned back, but they were told to stand down because the plane was identified as friendly, and no action was taken.

Malaysian Insider - 17 minutes from the time the plane vanished from radar at 1.21 AM until they were informed by Ho Chih Minh that they never saw the plane enter their airspace as expected.

8:19 was the last transmission

8:30 they pulled the radar tape and looked at it at 9AM, which doesn't explain why they told everybody to look in the South China sea.

2:15 was the last time it was seen on military radar 200 miles north of Penang.

The airliner not only snuck around Malaysia, but also Thailand
