WASHINGTON – In what is becoming a saddening and dangerous pattern, 2 Afghan policemen shot 7 other colleagues dead as they slept. Reuters reports that they had rejoined the police force after defecting to the Taliban.

http://m.bbc.com/news/world-asia-20835328Monday's attack in Kabul, Afghan officials said the 33-year-old officer, who they named only as Nargis, arrived at the HQ looking for the police chief, the governor of Kabul or the head of the criminal investigation department.
When she was unable to locate them she went to the canteen and fired one bullet at the aide. She then fired at officers who tried to arrest her.
Afghan officials said the woman was married to an officer with the criminal investigation department and has three children.

Monday's killing in Kabul came just hours after a local policeman killed at least five colleagues in the remote Khosh Tepa district in Jowzjan province.

A Taliban infiltrator who disguised himself as an Afghan policeman to murder two British soldiers has been captured by special forces.
Fanatic Sarhad Mohammad gunned down RAF Corporal Brent McCarthy, 25, and Lance Corporal Lee Davies, 27, of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, in May.
Comrades opened fire, wounding him as he fled and killing his accomplice Sarda Wali. But Mohammad was tracked down trying to join Afghan National Police in another region.

August 17, 2012 Military.com  |  by Richard Sisk U.S. military officials suspect the Afghan police recruit who killed two Special Forces trainers Friday with a weapon just handed to him was a Taliban plant and part of a growing threat from enemy infiltrators. To counter the threat, the U.S. and NATO have begun a major review of the vetting process for Afghan recruits for the police and the army to include checking on the identities and loyalties of village elders and Afghan officials who are required to vouch for the trainees, the officials said.
