The gun began to slip and as Howell tried to catch it, the pistol fired and went through the car seat and hit Patrick in the back, the release stated. Howell was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.
It was the city’s third shooting death in the past seven days
In separate incidents last Saturday night, two people -- a 16-year-old boy and a 37-year-old woman -- were killed.
Neither alcohol or excessive speed appear to be factors in a crash that killed three Minnesota college students, who were members of one of the nation's top Ultimate Frisbee teams.
