November 15, 2013 In Chicago police bomb and arson investigators never found the roofers they believe used torches which started a massive fire which destroyed 3 stores at a Chicago strip mall. One half of the mall was a total loss. There were 3 large explosions, probably from propane tanks left on the roof, or a transformer. There was a "catastrophic collapse of the roof and walls. There have been previous incidents in Chicago where roofers have fled after starting fires. It was reminiscent of the New Jersey boardwalk fire which started in a shop and rapidly spread.
netizen: Roofers were working on the historic church that burned as well. They started a fire, left then called the CFD! Same roofers at this one or same m.o.? Seems like it.

Or Poland, Russia and other former eastern block countries. The northwest side has quite a few illegals from those areas and they do the majority of non-union construction work. Just look at the groups of guys waiting for pick up in the mornings at Belmont and Milwaukee.

Officials believe the fire originated in the American Mattress store in the strip mall, Langford said. Roofers were reportedly working with torches at the store just before the fire began, he said.
"We don't know if that's the cause, but it's being looked at," Langford said.
As of 7 p.m., the workers who had been on the roof could not be found to be interviewed, authorities said.
Three stores - American Mattress, Mid-America Furniture and Four Eyes - were destroyed by the blaze. Deputy Fire Commissioner Michael Callahan said there was a "catastrophic collapse of the roof and walls" in the affected stores, but said nobody was hurt in the fire.
