She was from Russia's restive North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, which has been riven by Islamist-inspired violence for more than a decade. 27 were taken to a hospital. An Islamist insurgency has been especially resilient in Dagestan and fueled separatist wars in the neighboring republic of Chechnya. The Boston marathon bombers were Islamist militants with ethnic ties to Chechnya.

MOSCOW, October 21 (RIA Novosti) - Officials in Russia said that up to six people may have been killed Monday after a bus in the southern city of Volgograd was hit by a blast believed to have been the result of a terrorist attack. the attack was carried out by a 30-year old woman from Russia's restive North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, which has been riven by Islamist-inspired violence for more than a decade. 27 were taken to a hospital.
