Inver Grove Heights Historic Church Vandalized

    1. September 28, 2013 Historic 19th century Old Salem Shrine in Inver Grove Heights south of St. Paul Minnesota was vandalized. Ceiling lanterns were smashed along with the old pump organ.

      Informally known as the "little white church," the building at Upper 55th Street East and Annette Avenue East is only about 20 feet by 32 feet.
      "It's kind of a landmark for northern Dakota County," Lewis said.
      When formed in 1857 as Salem Evangelical Church, it was the state's first congregation of the Evangelical Association of North America. .Regular worship services there ended in 1910, but descendants of the church's founding families have kept traditions going. One of the annual rites, since 1999, is a Christmas Epiphany service held on the first Sunday in January.
